Penrith Panthers vs Parramatta Eels – Friday night – Sportingbet Stadium
Third plays fourth…yep really. Rumour has it that State of Origin superhero Jarryd Hayne will be rested for this game. I don’t have to tell any of you what a big exclusion he is if the rumours are true. The Eels did beat the Panthers in round four and I do not doubt them anymore. I took the Eels on the last time they played but they bolted in and kept their opponents to nil. The Panthers are chasing a rare (for them) third win in a row and they're a tougher task than the Dragons, but with or without Hayne I am with the Eels.
Verdict – Eels by 4
Result - Panthers 38 defeated Eels 12
Sydney Roosters vs Canberra Raiders – Saturday night – Allianz Stadium
Does Blake Ferguson turn up at this game? The Roosters have started to make a habit of snapping up troubled Raiders stars and turning them into troubled Roosters stars. Both these sides notched up impressive victories over under-strength opponents last weekend. I'm leaping to the conclusion that the Roosters victory is the superior form line. All four Origin chooks look set to back-up this weekend and they look like pretty good things to me.
Verdict – Roosters by 10
Result - Roosters 26 defeated Raiders 12
North Queensland Cowboys vs Melbourne Storm – Saturday night – 1300SMILES Stadium
What a difference a week makes. We were all a-flutter about the Storm when they tore the Bunnies apart, and if you backed them for the premiership on the back of that performance you'd be feeling a little teary right now. At the time of publishing Cronk, Smith and Slater are ruled out this weekend. I could almost shed a tear myself. To make matters worse the Cowboys four Origin players all came through unharmed. Craig Bellamy will hope to replicate the tactics of Laurie Daley and throw his big men at Jonathan Thurston all night. I imagine that will work to some degree, but it won't be anywhere near enough.
Verdict – Cowboys by 14
Result - Cowboys 22 defeated Storm 0
New Zealand Warriors vs Newcastle Knights – Sunday afternoon - Mt Smart Stadium
This one may be a little riskier than one might first conclude. Shaun Johnson is in some doubt for the home side, and the long kicking game from Jarrod Mullen could have those big hulking Warriors trudging up and down the park all afternoon. I'm tempted to tip the upset, but I can't, and there are only two things stopping me. The Warriors often play their best footy at Mt Smart (and their best is way too good for the Knights), and captain Simon Mannering plays his 200th game (and 100th as Warriors captain). This would be one frustrating side to captain...he deserves nothing less than a victory to celebrate his milestone.
Verdict – Warriors by 2
Result - Warriors 38 defeated Knights 18
Brisbane Broncos vs Manly Sea Eagles – Sunday afternoon – Suncorp Stadium
I'm assuming a few things here. Cherry-Evans and Watmough aren't going to play (although they both want to). Hodges has been named and is good to go (but that could change). And Jamie Lyon and Sam Thaiday have both been named (but either and/or both may not be there on the day). It doesn't make this an easy game to tip, but this was never going to be an easy game anyway. I'm taking the home side, who have slightly less question marks over their line-up. On top of that they'll be super-keen to put on a show for a bumper crowd on a rare Sunday afternoon game in Bronconia.
Verdict – Broncos by 4
Result - Broncos 36 defeated Sea Eagles 10
South Sydney Rabbitohs vs St George Illawarra Dragons – Monday night – ANZ Stadium
Okay okay....here's my joke of the week, and its going to be a bewdy. The Dragons have paid the Price for some very poor form in recent weeks. Oh that's good Thinker. That's very very good. The Rabbits, at their best, are as good as that joke and somewhere near their best is good enough here. Hopefully the Dragons respond to their new coach (who was a player I rather liked in his boot-wearing days). Inglis is playing...lock it in.
Verdict – Rabbitohs by 8
Result - Rabbitohs 29 defeated Dragons 10
Wally Lewis - round twelve selections (in bold)

- PANTHERS vs Eels
- ROOSTERS vs Raiders
- COWBOYS vs Storm

OK I'll go first.
Panthers. Home advantage plus Hayne may be a little tired!
Roosters. Way too strong here.
Cowboys. Half the Storm is in the sick ward
Warriors. Our Kiwi friends are heading up the ladder.
Manly. DCE & Watmough will not play....won't matter
Rabbits. Will slay the unhappy Dragons.

Have to agree with the above verdict, with the exception of the Eels will get up in a epic match. Our young forwards are big, strong and fast. It will be propbably the best game of the weekend.

Great stuff Mark....I'm getting there, Ms Thinker is away at the moment (in Blues territory sheesh!) so I'm juggling a few extra responsibilities this week.
I agree Jacob...that game looks like a cracker

Panthers by 6 I think Panthers will be too good for eels at home
Roosters by 10 I think Roosters will back up from their good win

Warriors by 2 I think the Wrecking Ball in this game will be the Warriors
Broncos by 1 I may change I am not sure the Broncos may focus on their salary cap here
Rabbitohs by 6 remember what happen last year well it wont happen this year

Alright let's do this thing ! First off congratulations goes out to our mate A for finally getting ahead of me on ladder and congratulations to our man The Thinker for picking perfect round last week. Here are my tips for weekend ...
Eels - Expect Paramatta to beat boys from Blacktown like runaway slave. As much as I don't want to say it the Eels are success story of the year ! Eels by 14 points.
Roosters - Someday when I run out of league games to watch I want to try this sex with girls people at my work keep talking to me about. The Canberra Raiders are going to get screw. Roosters by 18 points.
Cowboys - With three big three out, Storm are also equally going to get screw. For our mate A this game is going to be like porn for him because like him I'm picking his team to beat Storm by twenty points out in Townsville. Cowboys by 20 points.
Warriors - Warriors are going to awaken the Kraken on weaken Knights side on Sunday. Yes that was Game Of Thrones reference. Google it. Warriors by 12 points.
Broncos - Going by the amount of beer I consumed during Origin last night I think I'm technically a vegan. So cool dude this could be beer talking or lack of iron due to non meat based diet but I'm picking couple of upsets to finish off this week round of league. First off, Bronco's to beat Sea Eagles at Suncorps. Bronco's by 4 points.
Dragons - Second upset Dragons to beat Rabbits on Monday Night Football. That and dude before anybody says anything remember I picked NSW to beat QLD on Wednesday. Dragon's by 2 points.
Thanks alot Thinker. Go Warriors ! Kiwi Power ! Peow Peow ! ;-D

Hi everyone,
Well, what a pearler the 1st SOO was the other night. One of the best games of footy I’ve seen in a long time. Not the result some of us were looking for but a cracker of a game nevertheless. Second half was epic! Only criticism was Cherry-Evans getting “white line fever” a few times and as I saw it, possibly costing the Maroons at least one try and bewilderment as to why JT never tried more of those little grubber kicks he’s so good at. Lastly, I reckon Qld should have gone for glory and bombed it on that last tackle. Oh well, that’s what makes this game so awesome. Onwards to the next one in Sydney! OK, onto this week’s tips…
Eels - Jarryd Hayne is backing up from Wednesday night I’m told. Will he or won’t he? Even if he doesn’t it looks pretty even I think but the Newbie likes the Slippery Ones this week.
Roosters - The poor old Raiders will find this a lot harder than last week for sure. Chooks to win this one I think (hope) easily. Famous last words maybe?
Cowboys - Injuries from SOO might (will) have an impact on the Storm Troopers. Maybe the inevitable reshuffling will cause a little bit of confusion? Newbie’s going Cowboys.
Warriors - What can I say except for “poor old Newcastle”. Warriors to do it easily methinks.
Manly - I’m thinking Manly just might be a tad too good for the Broncos. Not sure who’s actually in or out for either side though. I’ll go with what my head’s telling me even though when it comes to Bronco games where The Thinker tips them to win and I don’t, The Thinker usually gets it right. Then again, I see that The King has tipped Manly! Hmm?
Rabbits - The extra few days rest from SOO will definitely help the 3 coming back for the Bunnies. Interested to see if sacking their coach encourages any STG improvement. Also wondering if Benji can ramp up his game a bit this week. Not that it will prove a match winner but it’ll be good to see him get his groove back. Bunnies should cruise this one in.
OK people, good luck with your tipping this week and good luck to your team as well. Cheers.

Hope you Queenslanders have survived Origin 1. Know you will all be disappointed with the result but I'm sure you'll bounce back. Congrats Johnny Ray for tipping another upset. Good to see The Thinker is hitting some form. Only wish some of that would rub off on me. On to this round's tips where I'm with the King this week.
Panthers - It's been quite a while since Penrith won three games in a row but I see the Eels as good opponents to achieve this. The Eels away record is terrible.
Roosters - The Chooks all the way for me. Too strong all over the park.
Cowboys - Melbourne have lost their spine and JT will be trying to make up for a woeful Origin game.
Sea Eagles - Brisbane aren't used to playing in daylight haha
Warriors - But I'm nervous as this is a game where the Warriors could easily trip up but back at their traditional home and for Mannering alone they should get up.
Rabbitohs - Apart from a new coach I can't see what's changed with the Dragons. Flogged by the Eels and kept to nil in their last outing is hardly inspiring stuff.
Best of luck to everyone!!

Hi All,
New here but been following this site for a quite awhile now.
-Eels
-Roosters
-Cowboys
-Warriors
-Sea Eagles

Can't tip the Storm because the big 3 are out from the Origin clash. 50/50 on the Eels because from what I heard, no Hayne and for the Panthers, Idris is out. I can't see the Dragons winning.. I'll give Benji a couple more games to be settled. Couldn't tip Brisbane. Too much pressure on the boys. All though Manly only just beat the Knights so who knows. Warriors should beat the Knights easily (I hope).
Up the Eels & Warriors :) Goodluck all

Pennies - Ivan's had a quiet Origin and should have things organised, Penrith can overcome the Eels who may suffer from altitude loss if Hayne is out. Penrith have points in them and should score too many.
Roosters - Its time for the Stegglers to come good, if you do the math then these are some very expensive Roosters indeed, The Guru with his kindergarten addition can get to 6M without too much trouble...they'd better win
NQC - QLDs pain will be eased a wee bit when they thrash Melbourne here. The Storm are blown out for this week and if JT plays for 30min it'll be NQ. Guru Gold tip of the week.
Knights - The Sharkies syndrome is in effect, the Guru is hoping anyway. Tiny is gone and the shackles have been broken. Its time for Wayne to do what Wayne does best and win football games. Newcastle halves are looking for a big game.
Manly - The Bronco's don't do well with negative pressure, honest men rarely do as its not something they prepare for. The Guru will wait and see how the current situation plays out, but he is thinking its time for the QLD cup crew to pack up. The club is teetering on the edge. Man 13+
StGeorge - Nervous game for tipsters, StMarys could pull off an upset with the new look side. Benji will feel less restricted and that makes him unpredictable,The Dragons look decent on paper but they need to get points early. Guru's roughie of the week.

Good luck everyone...according to the interwebs Jarryd Hayne won't be playing tonight. It does explain the very short price for the Penny Panthers.
Have a great weekend and, to borrow from Gus Gould, enjoy your rugby league.
