Penrith Panthers vs South Sydney Rabbitohs – Friday night – Pepper Stadium
Are the Panthers back? Perhaps. A big win over the Tigers gives hope but I am the young boy from Oliver (Please sir...I want some more). Sixteen rounds have been and gone and the Panthers have notched up just one win against a side in the top eight. That win was against the Bulldogs way back in round one...and they're currently 8th. They played the Bulldogs again in round 15...and lost. That probably gives you an idea of their level, which is a shame because the Panthers are better than that...or they should be. No Greg Inglis for the Bunnies but outside of that they are virtually unchanged from last week. Clearly the Bunnies without Inglis are beatable, and a Panthers win wouldn't surprise me, but I shan't be tipping them. No I shan't.
Verdict – Rabbitohs by 2
Result - Panthers 20 defeated Rabbitohs 6
St George Illawarra Dragons vs North Queensland Cowboys – Saturday night – WIN Stadium
A Saturday night in July on the coast at Wollongong. I'm getting shivers just thinking about it. If the weather doesn't beat the Cowboys the Origin-forced omissions certainly will - Scott, Tamou, Thurston and Morgan. No Dugan for the Dragons - he'll be sitting back downing a few Bacardi Breezers with Michael Jennings in another NSW coastal town. He's a big out for the Red V, but it's nothing compared to their opponents.
Verdict – Dragons by 8
Result - Cowboys 18 defeated Dragons 12
Manly Sea Eagles vs Cronulla Sharks – Sunday afternoon – Brookvale Oval
Those in the Shire are starting to get itchy - their team is winning again. Some of them are getting a little ahead of themselves, talking up the Sharks prospects as a top four side and a genuine contender. Clearly their form has improved, but it's worth reminding them that this is Origin season. Origin season is like the rear view mirror on your car - objects may appear closer than they really are. The Warriors often start winning at this time of year (and they are). Heck, even the Panthers and Eels had wins last weekend. With Cherry-Evans released from Origin duty the Sea Eagles are naming a pretty strong side, and now they just need their forwards to stand up at Brookvale. With Gallen and (probably) Ennis unavailable, I think they can.
Verdict – Sea Eagles by 2
Result - Sea Eagles 28 defeated Sharks 16
Wests Tigers vs Parramatta Eels – Monday night – ANZ Stadium
I'm finding it hard to get a read on the Tigers. Just a few weeks ago they absolutely towelled up the defending premiers 34-6. It shows you what they can do, but that's been their only win since round eight. The Eels by contrast, are on something of a run. In their last two games they've beaten the teams running 4th and 6th. Prior to that, an incredible comeback was all that stopped them from claiming the scalp of the team running 2nd. That's good enough form for this I say. Watch this one. If this isn't the best game of the round it should be the most entertaining.
Verdict – Eels by 7
Result - Eels 28 defeated Tigers 16

Instead of calling held after every tackle, Alex McKinnon wants rule change where Ref blow their whistle instead to help prevent same injury that happened to him happen to another player : http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/alex-mckinnon-reveals-his-hurt-over-... That's best godamn idea I have heard yet ... ;-D

No no no please don't say that JR. You said that yesterday to the Sharks and they coped a beating. I want the BOYS to get the win as well.

Alright Baggy Gee ! I'll do opposite ! Hey Parramatta ? How many of you does it take to change a lightbulb ? None ! They're all happy living in Bulldogs shadow ! How many Eels Players does it take to change a tyre ? One, unless it's a blowout then they all turn out ! What does Parramatta and Hillsong Church have in common ? They can both make 30,000 people stand up and yell "Jesus Christ" !!! Why do Parramatta Fans display their season tickets on dashboard of their car ? So they can park in handicap spaces ! I know, I know ! I shouldn't be making fun of disabled or mentally retarded but when I do, it's Parramatta Eels ... ;-D

Hi Tipsters
I have been away camping for a week with my family and have just caught up with all of the comments and tips that I have missed.
I was camping at a beautiful place called Gordon Country which is near Warwick in Qld, 4000 natural aussie acres where you can spread out and away from anyone else.
I did miss the footy last week but seeing as the Tigers went down to the Panthers I'm glad I was away. Johnny Ray you are spot on when you said about one worse team then the Eels and that is the Tigers this year.
Tigers will get the spoon this year and that is a sure bet. That confidence from a Tigers member and a fan for the past 35 years there abouts.
Coach, well said in your response to the voyeur, if any offence is taken from this forum then the person taking the offence needs to either f---k off or harden up.
I love the opportunity to be a part of the tipsters on this site, I for one am trying my bloody best to win this tipping comp just for the bragging rights..
I will sit through the game tonight, even though I have tipped the Eels I will of course be cheering on the hapless Tigers without Brooks, Farrah and Woods.
Keep up the great work guys

I think both Tigerholic, if you don't like it, harden up and then F--- off. And thanks for the jokes JR. I'll wheel them out next time the Warriors/any other team visit, but all of them were quite good. A good chuckle.

Can I put in a request for a stat Coach?
How many teams in origin history have lost the first game and won the series?

Another piss poor video ref decision to deny James Tedesco an early try to the Tigers....and how long did they take to award Pat Richards his try? It felt like an eternity.......

Para's man of the match tonight was undoubtedly Gavin Badger. He should be ashamed of some of his decisions tonight.....yea I tipped the Tigers!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

I posted in week 15 Declan, 23/6/15 6:40pm to be exact. Showed there's been 17 games decided by game 3. Winner of game 1 won the decider 8 times, and winner of game 2 won the decider 7 times, with 2 draws.
#Any show of hands on who will be online for Origin III ? Eg. tablet in hands - both medicinal and electronic versions, on couch, able to give live comment, vent fury, elation and whatever else comes to mind? Would be nice to get a mass free for all, and Wally, - how about a comment live from Lang Park!!

That just sums up the piss poor season for the Tigers. Jason Taylor now needs to drop some of the bludgers and pretenders and give some more of the U20's a chance ,
Tedesco can't do it on his own, that was pathetic, another second half with no addition to the scoreboard for the useless Tigers.
There is absolutely no enjoyment watching a Tigers team that you know can lose from 30 in front let alone 4.
How long was Jason Taylors contract for, if he can find any positives out of that crap than he is kidding himself.

I've updated the ladder after round seventeen, and things have tightened at the top. A breakaway group of five are attempting to separate from the pack, but it only takes one or two good or bad rounds for things to change very quickly.
No perfect rounds and no duck eggs in round seventeen. Top score was 3 from 4 - with the Cowboys and Panthers bringing most undone.
I'll have an Origin preview up and about as soon as I can...I just need to find a few matchsticks for the eyelids.....its been a big week.

Tigers have hit a score of 9 on the losing streak. They will hit the dreaded 10 if they lose their next match in a fortnight.. away to the Broncos!! All she wrote Tigers. Bottom 4 all but confirmed.
As for Parra who have a losing streak of 8, with losing runs of 4, 2, and 2 - they curiously will only reach 10 if they record another losing streak of 4 straight. Not likely for me, so regardless of the nay-sayers, they aren't bottom 4 material, so must be a great bet to make the 8, currently $6.50.
Manly also have a losing streak score of 8, but because they have losing streaks of 5 and 3, they will reach 10 by just losing two in a row somewhere in the last two months which to me is a matter of time.

Thinker, very disappointed you didn't follow up with the word pelaton after mentioning the breakaway group.

Tigerholic, I think they really only need another skilful ball playing back rower to compliment Woods. Can you imagine what second phase you would get with a Bryce Cartwright? Just so you know though, he's not for sale. Truth is there's not that many skilful ball playing back rowers around, but if they find one, the rest of the team will gel.
(Have you seen the Panthers gel lately, and people noticing Cartwright?)

Tigers are playing terrible

Yeah ! Eels ! They won ! Woo ! Man considering how crap I went this week with my tips I should mock all the teams I back ! Who have I got in Origin ? NSW ? Alright did you hear about the guy from New South Wales who tried to cook frozen pizza ? The instructions said turn the oven 180 degrees so he did and now he's got the stove facing kitchen wall and he can't get door open ! Hahahaha ... ;-D

Don't forget your highlights review tomorrow Thinker, I need to know does the person passing the ball (Wallace) now require to get out of defenders way after passing the ball because not disappearing equals obstruction. Let's hope a final is not decided by such incompetency - although probably hoping against hope.

Coach Parra's closer to the mountains than Tigerland, We could take Bryce off your hands and he would be close enough to visit on the weekends he played at Pirtek. I know we don't need any more big bodies, but talented ball handling forwards to get those big bodies into holes close to the line would be devestating.
