* note: team line-ups are subject to considerable change, but will be updated as news filters through.

There are rumours aplenty that the iconic XXXX Brewery at the Milton Road end of Suncorp Stadium is going to close its doors. While few would want to see it go, it seems somewhat fitting that an iconic Queensland Origin side is coming to an end too. Thurston is gone. Inglis is (probably) gone. Cronk is going. Smith must be thinking about going. Slater has rolled an ankle. Bigger empires have crumbled than this, but there's no denying that we have been witnesses to an Origin dynasty we're not likely to see again. Queensland were on the ropes after game one, and looked on the ropes mid-way through game two. Yet somehow, as champions generally do, they found their way off the ropes and prevailed. Thurston, as champions generally do, dragged himself off the ropes and carried himself through the contest with one good arm. He was still there at the end to slot the conversion that proved the difference. His performance, and the performance of his team, demonstrated the epitome of the Queensland spirit...and they won. You could almost see the heart of Phil Gould breaking in the post-match wrap-up. Andrew Johns broke his brain. It was riveting television during and after the game.

NSW bring the same seventeen than won them game one so convincingly and all but won them game two. There was no need to make changes, but changes were almost thrust upon them. Tedesco hasn't played since game two. Cordnor and Dugan are racing the clock to be ready in time. Frizell is a huge doubt. The three spares for NSW (De Belin, Merrin and Trbojevic) are there to fill the slots if needed.

QLD have had a different five-eighth in every game of the series. In game three we have Munster which gives Queensland an all-purple spine. Munster having his Melbourne team-mates in key positions is a huge plus, but he's making his Origin debut at Suncorp in a game to decide the series. He's a very composed young man, but his composure will be tested on Wednesday.

I say this great Queensland side can get there...one more time. They can do this for Cronk in his last game. They can do this for Thurston who won't be there, but will be there...in every tackle, every pass, and every conversion. One more time. The kings are dead. Long live the kings.

Verdict – Queensland 18 : New South Wales 14

First try scorer – Billy Slater

Man of the Match – Billy Slater

Thinker I just want to say to mary s well done & that mary s will be the one likely to win third place because i'm no good with margins ...

Hi thinker, long time follower and first time poster, I think that Qld will edge out the blues. The Storm spine to get the job done and stopping the NSW big boppers up the middle. QLD have a lot of motivation to win this, sending off the great JT (even though he will be on the sideline) and potentially Cronk's and Smith's last game also. NSW have all the pressure on them, come on QLD, love the page mate, keep up the good work.

tigerholic's picture

Welcome to this site Johns snorts coke, by the way you think Qld will win on Wednesday it makes me think that you are trying a bit of what your name says.

NSW will start a new era in dominating Qld, don't be fooled that NSW will not win because the game is in QLD, what happened in game 1??.

Good to have you on board with the Thinker.

Cheers

I snorted coke once, the bubbles tickled going up a lot. It will be an interesting game, I'm backing QLD for the simple fact we have at least three under an injury cloud and if Boyd doesn't play then I fear we will slip back into the niggle nonsense that lost us all those games over the years.

a's picture

Here are my predictions

QLD 10 try Gavin Cooper goals Cameron Smith 3/3 NSW 4 try James Maloney

Man of the match Gavin Cooper

pabdul's picture

Johns snorts coke that's a pretty long name. After reading your comment maybe you can shorten your name to dope. Go NSW.

tigerholic's picture

Hi Baggy
I also snorted coke once, wasn't that good so I ate the ice cream instead of the coke.
NSW to win

tigerholic's picture

How about changing your name to joke:)

Mary S's picture

Hi Christine, I posted in the 'Lounge' comments that I was no good at margins either. All the best - I will guess (as usual) on a number and see how far out I am - adds to the fun!!!

To all, enjoy the match on Wed and may the best team win - QLD of course!!!!

Baggy_Gee's picture

Does that mean the Matt was the better Johns boy? Don't worry JohnnyBBad that's just the welcome mat being laid out by the Silver Spoons here. You are now one of us.

johns snorts coke's picture

Thanks Baggy Gee, great win by the eels against the storm the other night for you fellas, good to see you will be playing finals for the first time since 2009 if I am correct? And I am guessing fortress is a Manly supporter, kind of makes sense if he is.

Rocket Ryan's picture

You're right fortress we dont need some moron admitting his drug hadit its not a good or funny look.

Baggy_Gee's picture

Yep, we are actually running virtual 7th with the bye this week putting us on 24 points. Was listening to Rabs on the weekend speaking about 28 points to make the eight. Well with more than a few rounds left we might be looking at 32 points to nail down the top eight, 14 wins and 2 byes.

christine's picture

Thinker you have kids using this website do you really want anyone saying things about someone doing coke or any other drugs for that matter ...

JNS's picture

is that better

christine's picture

JNS yes that is better the only reason I said something was because we were all told before by the Thinker he has had complaints from kids mothers who use this website but that was in reference to swearing but i'm sure it will also apply to that to ...

Spartan Warrior's picture

Greetings from the Spartan Warrior,
Aye, Andrew Johns admitted he had regularly taken ecstasy throughout his playing career. For a man who suffered from depression and bipolar disorder he mistakenly felt drugs would help him to deal with pressures of life. Yea, he has made some poor life decisions without a doubt, but there is not one of us who have gone through life without erring.
John 8:7
“When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her."
Proverbs 12:18
“The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing”.
I look at Andrew Johns and seeth a sir, who is a husband and father. I see someone who has turned his life around and like myself and thee all, will continue to make mistakes and learn from them.

Spartan Warrior's picture

Greetings from the Spartan Warrior,
Aye, Lady Christine, I am a New South Welshman.
I would hope NSW could win, for my heart is there.
Each morning I wake in a city that is surrounded with the shadows of the past, greeting the new day. My eyes looketh upon a bridge that joins a population. But Lady Christine I am also a realist, the timeth is not yet for NSW.

when you go into battle you fight to the death regardless the enemy you dont join the opposition because you think their going to win you take it up to them and if you lose you still have your dignity otherwise your a traitor.
your choice Spartan.

Johns snorts's picture

Might have known fortress was a manly supporter and FYI I don't drink it smoke only drug I take is caffeine take a chill pill dude stress is bad for your health. How do you stop a manly supporter from drowning? Take your foot off his head lol lol !

christine's picture

Spartan You take which ever team you choose don't let anyone else influence you ...

Scubagravy's picture

NSW- 16
QLD- 13

Premature field goal from Gronk,
78 minute try from Turdesco !

Funnier things have happened.

pabdul's picture

I don't care who spartan goes for I just wonder if he practices what he preaches

Spartan Warrior's picture

Greetings from the Spartan Warrior,
Thank to thee Lady Christine and aye Master Pabdul yea make a valid point, but you have misconstrued my meaning.
When 300 of the finest Spartan Warriors faced 1 million Persian invaders, each Spartan Warrior knew that they would not be returning home alive, yet they fought on.
My words were not those of defeat or changing of alliances. My words were of pragmatism.
Yea, I am a New South Welshman and yea I would wish for the Blues to succeed, but it is battle I think they cannot yet win. This doest not mean that the Blues shouldst face the oncoming adversity, for courage and strength is created through hard times. As I have previously said, their timeth has not yet arrived, but it will. This final battle of 2017 will only further fortify the Blues augmentation, victory or loss.
Regardless of the outcome, both NSW and Queensland has't shown mutual respect amongst each other. The spirit in which the State of Origins battles have been fought this year have exemplified this.

The Spartan warrior has spoken.

pabdul's picture

Nicely put but I disagree how is it a battle that can't be won?
If you think like a spartan you'll know that loyalty is a part of who you are
That's your choice but my advise would be don't part with too many gold coins for this battle

Russell's picture

I think to be a drug cheat you would have to take performance enhancing drugs or drugs/hormones that repair injuries quicker than normal, not drugs that slow the body down.

Personally I think some of the drugs used to repair injuries quicker should be looked into a bit more closely as a possible assistance to a injured sports person.

a's picture

Yeah some drugs can cure you

GuySmiley's picture

QLD 16, NSW 12 in a huge battle to the death. Thurston for Premier.

Rocket Ryan's picture

Spartan warrior next time you're crossing the harbour bridge please jump

tigerholic's picture

Hello Rocket
I note your absence of recent times. Just wanting to remind you to bring in my prize when I see you next, NSW will win the series tomorrow night.

I don't care if it's by 1 point or 20 points, NSW will win.

GuySmiley's picture

Spartan is right. The QLD spirit often creates victory against the odds, and with Thurston and Cronk having their last Origin Series, the team will produce new levels of performance to ensure a win.

Rocket Ryan's picture

Nothing worse than a cockroach trying to change camps not on.

christine's picture

Rocket ryan What makes you think for one minute your camp isn't already infested with filthy scum ? ...

christine's picture

Rocket ryan Spartan warrior isn't trying to change camps the first time Spartan was on this site I asked who he pledges his loyalty to for origin & he answered decifer my riddle & all the clus given pointed to nsw so for him to now tip qld which is entirely up to him I would hardly say now he is trying to change camps ...

pabdul's picture

the spartan made it clear he supports nsw but he's tipped qld coz he thinks nsw can't win this game.. gee doesn't understand clear Latin anymore

christine's picture

Pabdul I live in nsw but I have never tipped nsw for origin & I would like to know why it is just because you are born in one state that you can't tip the other there is no rule saying you can't I mean I can't help it were my parents brought a house before I was born did they ask me first if I mind so they knew what state to buy in ...

Fortress's picture

How do you stop a drug addict low life scum like jns u wouldn't waste ur time let the piece of s##t drown.

OK folks what a decider this should be both states have reason to win but as I stated in Previous post regarding the game it will come down to who controls the ball better and which halves have the better kicking game to gain territorial advantage.

NSW must feel that with out jt and new inclusions that this is there chance, the blues too have injury concerns, qld is a chamipion team who have dominated for a while do the blues have the nerve to finally win they can but must play the full 80 MTS because qld will.

My tip my heart says NSW by head says QLD so I will go with my heart and say NSW by 1

Enjoy what should be a fight to the death and may the better state win!!!!!!!!

BigPeteBx's picture

Well, well well - what a bunch of happy munchkins we have here.
SofO will be close, but if Artie Fifita comes out guns blazing - lookout QLD. Contain the Storm three, coz anything could happen to Billy The Kid and NSW might just spoil some cheerios and goodbyes.

Detest use of killer type language used against Manly, but you say what you like. Manly loves to be hated. Fortress is passionate and at times, lets his feelings go.
As for the snorters - hahahaha in that drug reference, as I'm sure the first post and few that followed, were in reference to Amatils Coca Cola. Bubbly up the nose alright, but the one who ate the ice cream, must have been having one of the original coke sodas or Bodgie Soda's, as we used to call them in past days.

Certainly not a Johns job and inhaling black dust from Newcastle black diamonds (coal/coke), as is mined.

Keep well folks and welcome to the new posts/bloggers with us.
Cheers - Big Pete

Rocket Ryan's picture

Padbul is right christine the old Latin dribbler thinks the blues will pull up short .

Baggy_Gee's picture

Ahhhh makes sense now Pete, he wanted to be seen as a working class man/hero. Let him keep his immortality, people just don't understand him.
How do you get a Manly fan to get to his feet? Ask " Will the defendant please rise"!

pabdul's picture

Christine I didn't say he couldn't tip nsw I was clarifying what he said to me why he's tipping qld. Maybe I should start talking Latin coz the queens English doesn't seem to work for me... hail theesa.
