* note: team line-ups are subject to considerable change, but will be updated as news filters through.

There are rumours aplenty that the iconic XXXX Brewery at the Milton Road end of Suncorp Stadium is going to close its doors. While few would want to see it go, it seems somewhat fitting that an iconic Queensland Origin side is coming to an end too. Thurston is gone. Inglis is (probably) gone. Cronk is going. Smith must be thinking about going. Slater has rolled an ankle. Bigger empires have crumbled than this, but there's no denying that we have been witnesses to an Origin dynasty we're not likely to see again. Queensland were on the ropes after game one, and looked on the ropes mid-way through game two. Yet somehow, as champions generally do, they found their way off the ropes and prevailed. Thurston, as champions generally do, dragged himself off the ropes and carried himself through the contest with one good arm. He was still there at the end to slot the conversion that proved the difference. His performance, and the performance of his team, demonstrated the epitome of the Queensland spirit...and they won. You could almost see the heart of Phil Gould breaking in the post-match wrap-up. Andrew Johns broke his brain. It was riveting television during and after the game.

NSW bring the same seventeen than won them game one so convincingly and all but won them game two. There was no need to make changes, but changes were almost thrust upon them. Tedesco hasn't played since game two. Cordnor and Dugan are racing the clock to be ready in time. Frizell is a huge doubt. The three spares for NSW (De Belin, Merrin and Trbojevic) are there to fill the slots if needed.

QLD have had a different five-eighth in every game of the series. In game three we have Munster which gives Queensland an all-purple spine. Munster having his Melbourne team-mates in key positions is a huge plus, but he's making his Origin debut at Suncorp in a game to decide the series. He's a very composed young man, but his composure will be tested on Wednesday.

I say this great Queensland side can get there...one more time. They can do this for Cronk in his last game. They can do this for Thurston who won't be there, but will be there...in every tackle, every pass, and every conversion. One more time. The kings are dead. Long live the kings.

Verdict – Queensland 18 : New South Wales 14

First try scorer – Billy Slater

Man of the Match – Billy Slater

congratulations to a champion state qld on your mighty win,the blues tried hard but it wasnt to be,the blues were better in the first game and half of the second clash but then the qld"s took over from there well done to them what will happen in 2018!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so we now turn our attention to the premiership and in my mind only 6 teams can win the title they are not in order........................................
1.the mighty eagles

2.the storm

3.the broncos

4.the sharks

5.the roosters

6.the cowboys

with the saints, and a fast finishing canberra the only 2 that can spoil the top 6 the rest just making up the numbers all year there has been a massive gulf of standard between the top 6 and the rest, the resaults dont lie, the ladder does not lie, and fact does not lie, this is my opinion based on what we have all seen over 18 rounds not just 2 or 3 games its the overall picture..................................

hope everyone enjoyed the state of origin series it was out of this world, so lets enjoy the run to the finals goodnight everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously thought that was one of the great games !!!, so much said leading up to the whistle, but class really showed through on the night, and some pretenders delivered their normal big games for NSW. Pearce was truly awful, and to hear Gould trying to pump his performance up at one stage was just a joke...he failed to show up, and you can not keep covering his performance by saying the forwards did not deliver.....he just becomes the invisible man in the big moments.

And seriously DCE who ????

Cronk and Munster showed the selectors had it 100% right.....nothing against DCE personally, he just is not the right fit for the 2017 team......I am sure he will make it back one day......

Looks like druggo johns might be the next bloser to coach lol lol!! qld rule!!!!

The majestic maroons have shown true esprit de corps and fortitude again, congratulations QLD. NSW need to act like a team “above” club grade, A. Johns seems to agree with me in that he was lamenting the culture and the attitude of the NSW players, saying the Blues just don’t understand what it means to play Origin footy.
Full credit to Cordner, his captain’s speech showed class
My hat goes off to local Townsville born Holmes, had a fantastic game, getting over the try line 5 times, with 3 tries out of 5 allowed.
Glad the game didn’t sink into grubbiness, I’m unsure where Tigerholic’s random comment emanates from?

Sea eagles will get rubbed out for salary cap breaches and even ugly they don't will not win

Gee QLD didn't miss Darius Boyd did they, can't even remember his name being mentioned last night. I will never really understand how he got the gig for the 1st SOO over Billy the kid, who is one of the best players I have ever seen.

My biggest whinge from the games comes from Holmes second try, where the hell was the man marking the winger? If he had been even just inside his man intercept and 6 all. Poor positional defense. And horrible attitude from Gus, just tackle when not square at marker, give up the penalty and trust your defense. BS attitude.

Congratulations to Queensland. A comprehensive victory last night......it must be hard for all those who support NSW......they just forgot to show up. I expected a lot more of a battle but it was somewhat of a let down with only one team fronting up for the war.

Gotta hand it to Qld, they are just too good. NSW couldn't capilitise when they needed most besides the only try they scored and in the end, Qld ran away with it. There's always hope for next year. I did say after Game I that NSW can whitewash Qld though it was going to be a hard task. Hell, we didn't even win the series. My pre origin prediction saying that Qld will win again turned out to be right.

Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not a problem Rocket R.
Matches are matches and when players don't stand up to the plate, one can only hope. Early try and NSW were on the ropes.
As much as World Cup is on in 2018 and Auckland 9's have been suspended for one year, because of that, SoO is a revenue raiser for NRL and rugby league code. They'll want to keep it going, no matter who wins. However, bugger the the home ground advantage for whoever wins it the previous year, in the third tie, get it around the place and promote it more.
Just my thought Rocket.

Cheers - snow expected this way, around mid next week.
Big Pete
