Five rounds down and the NRL ladder has most people raising their eyebrows - just two of the teams in the top eight (Bulldogs and Sea Eagles) played finals football in 2013.

Three of the most talented (and divisive) characters in the game are back this weekend - Sonny Bill Williams, Justin Hodges and Josh Dugan. Set your eyeballs to compelled.

Oh the shame! The shame of it all. People have coins that are doing better than I at this tipping caper thus far. I've given my enormous head an old fashioned team talk and a spray that Craig Bellamy would be proud to call his own. Prepare the wet sail...I'm on my way.

Not only did every Queensland team win in round one, but they all won by the same margin. It's unlikely we'll see such results again in a brazillion years, and we certainly won't be seeing it this weekend.

2014 season predictions

I'm back! Like some dumb kid with his hand stuck in a vending machine I'm having yet another go at predicting the season ladder. Please don't give up on your team if I've tipped them to miss the eight. From memory I predicted that the 2013 grand finalists would finish 11th and 13th. So in many ways, this is a waste of all of our time. Oh well, you're here now. Read on and enjoy!
