Canterbury Bulldogs vs North Queensland Cowboys – Thursday night – ANZ Stadium
A couple of important inclusions for the Cowboys in Coote and Granville, but the Thurstiest man on their roster won't be there. In one of the more unusual positional changes Asiata shifts from the halves to prop forward. If that's not a first in the NRL it's right next to first. The Cowboys will need all hands on deck in that engine room when they take on this mighty Bulldogs pack. Given that challenge, and the absence of Thurston, it all points to a victory for the home team.
Verdict – Bulldogs by 4
Result – Cowboys by 16
St George Illawarra Dragons vs Cronulla Sharks – Friday night – UOW Jubilee Oval
It's one of those special rivalires in the NRL but this clash has lost some of its lustre with the injuries to Josh Dugan and Gareth Widdop. The battle of the forwards has me salivating and that alone will keep this game close, but that Sharks backline is intact and, all other things being equal, should outpoint those opposite. Worth watching though, particularly if you like big units belting the cheese out of each other for 80 minutes.
Verdict – Sharks by 8
Result – Sharks by 4
Wests Tigers vs South Sydney Rabbitohs – Friday night – ANZ Stadium
Finally we get to see Robbie Farah face his old club. I imagine Farah is feeling pretty comfortable with himself given how the Tigers have gone about unravelling themselves. What's more, the Tigers are actually paying most of his salary this season, and what they are paying him would be more than what most of the players actually wearing Tigers jerseys are getting paid. Three of the big four in Tiger Town are playing on Friday night but Aaron Woods isn't, and in this case he's probably the most important of the four. Without Woods the Tigers look set to struggle in the forwards and the consistent (if somewhat predictable) kicking game of Reynolds can help keep the Tigers pinned at the wrong end of the wrong paddock (note this Tigers home game has been taken to the Rabbitohs home ground). It's not particularly funny, but Farah gets the last laugh.
Verdict – Rabbitohs by 4
Result – Rabbitohs by 20
Penrith Panthers vs New Zealand Warriors – Saturday afternoon – Pepper Stadium
Here it is folks – this seasons most frustrating team taking on the winner of the most frustrating team award for the previous ten years in succession. And yet here I am tipping the Panthers again...I must be a very slow learner. There's nothing particularly rational about my choice, other than glass-half full thinking that at some point the Panthers are going to show us something this season, and many of these Warriors are backing up from international duty and another game in Australia. They usually save their worst for us. If they are near their best I'll have this completely wrong.
Verdict – Panthers by 2
Result – Panthers by 8
Melbourne Storm vs Gold Coast Titans – Saturday night – Suncorp Stadium
Both sides lose one key man each with Jesse Bromwich (Storm) and Proctor (Titans) suspended from duty for off-field stupidity. I assume they won't be hitting Caxton Street together for a drink or two after the game. Now I've probably told you all a thousand times that tipping against the Storm is a mugs game, but I'm tipping against the Storm. They've lost just once this season but they're missing some key men in the middle. A lot of these Titans should be nice and fresh and they'll be well prepared for this game. They've struggled with injuries all season but they have so many of their key men available right now they've got Jarryd Hayne playing in the centres. They're rank outsiders and they probably should be, but I'm giving them a live chance.
Verdict – Titans by 2
Result – Titans by 2
Manly Sea Eagles vs Brisbane Broncos – Saturday night – Suncorp Stadium
I'm tipping two upsets at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night. Since round two the Sea Eagles have been taking on top eight teams and have proven to be more than competitive. They beat the Cowboys in Townsville and the Raiders in Canberra. Their only losses during this period were an absolute towelling by the Dragons and a narrow loss to the Storm – that's the top two teams on the ladder right now. Last start they absolutely ran riot over the Rabbitohs, a team that almost beat the Broncos in round eight. They're up to this, paticularly while the Broncos are without Hunt and Roberts. This game gives Mr Cherry-Evans an opportunity to show the QLD Origin selectors what he can do too.
Verdict – Sea Eagles by 4
Result – Broncos by 10
Newcastle Knights vs Canberra Raiders – Sunday afternoon – McDonald Jones Stadium
Insert logical reasoning here. None of you would be tipping the Knights so I can say just about anything can't I? My hovercraft is full of eels.
Verdict – Raiders by 16
Result – Knights by 14
Sydney Roosters vs Parramatta Eels – Sunday afternoon – Allianz Stadium
Shaun Kenny-Dowall really dropped the ball last week...which isn't unusual. He's resting this week, and he may struggle to get another contract from here. Mind you, for a backpacker who just turned up from New Zealand and thought he'd give the game a try he's made a pretty reasonable career out of it. It beats picking fruit for a living, which could be his next contract. Note that Bevan French is named on an extended bench so keep watching the skies in case he gets called into the seventeen. I'm a fan. In any case I'm with the chooks on Sunday – every time I look at that Roosters forward pack I start smiling like an idiot. They're so good Aiden Guerra can't even get a start. If the Eels played for 80 minutes I'd be tipping them, but they're likely to switch off in patches and the tricolours won't. That may prove to be the difference.
Verdict – Roosters by 4
Result – Roosters by 38
Wally Lewis - round ten selections (in bold)
Note: tips from Wally will be published on Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
- BULLDOGS vs Cowboys
- Dragons vs SHARKS
- TIGERS vs Rabbitohs
- PANTHERS vs Warriors
- STORM vs Titans
- Sea Eagles vs BRONCOS
- Knights vs RAIDERS
- ROOSTERS vs Eels

Never said a thing about the ref's Mark, we were belted very convincingly, I was more getting stuck in to the pathetic edge defence. One M.Jennings missed 6 tackles and as all the tries were scored out wide its a safe assumption that he let 3 in by himself. If we are going ref hunting, that guy running the first half in the Manly/Broncos game was a joke, how does a pass thrown behind the 20m and gets picked up off the bounce 5m in front of the 20m not get called.

Greetings football fans,
I've updated the tipping comp and the NRL ladder. The Storm hold top position but the pack closes the gap.
In the tipping comp Johnny Awesome was our best tipster in round ten with 6 from 8 – needless to say he missed the Titans and the Knights...and he had plenty of company there.
I'll have the round eleven page published on Monday night for those that need to tip early, and I'll have my previews and selections published on Wednesday.
All the best

Yes Mark A - as i said early in the peace of joining here, that money has ruined all sports. Its ruined how players receive and what they do with $$$$'s and it also ruins how matches are played or secured for the likes of the corporate operators.
Fans have been let down too often. They're not shareholders in the club, so they don't get a good return. They are only paid members.
I think Manly would have gone on with the game had it been played at Brooky, but take nothing from Broncs mate - Benny had them focused to see the game out until the final whistle.
Keep well mate

Submitted by Johnny Awesome on
Good morning all,
I tip my hat to Newcastle and the GoldCoast. Never really rated Nathan Brown, my best mate has and I laughed. I'll have to reassess my take on NB, he could be building something special. Neil Henry, well, always had a lot of respect for him. That Gold Coast team at full strength could actually look like a premiership winner. On Ricky Stuart, what a great guy and coach. He has to stop trotting out the same line after each defeat though. He says every week not to expect them to blow teams off the park, and the teams are wise to their play. Well what lost Canberra the game yesterday was poor defence, bad handling. Canberra need to get that in order fast starting from Leilua. No excuse to get 30 plus points, there's a deficiency there and either a slight lack of confidence or passion. Not hard to fix, so let's start against the Roosters. I knew the Dragons would falter, but didn't count on some crucial injuries. Maybe some wins during Origin period may get us through. Anyway, you are all welcome to come down to the Raiders v Roosters. I'm one of two who wear St George clobber to a Raiders game. Too cold for 'She who must be obeyed' but I'll have my best mate there and hopefully Canberra can win. Cheers from Mr Awesome.

Greetings from the Spartan Warrior,
King Leonidas said to his son, “In the end, a Spartan's true strength is the warrior next to him. So give respect and honour to him, and it will be returned to you. First, you fight with your head...
His wife Gorgo added, “Then you fight with your heart”.
As in life, as in sport, as in rugby league, respect your opposition first. As a result, respect and honour will flow freely to those who stand by your shield. Ultimately, only then can you truly fight with your heart.

mark asford mate the ref was bad for both teams, its a shame because it was a great game, very high standard and im sure both these sides will be in finals footy, and who knows maybe fighting out the big dance in september, when are we going to get rid of these inept out of there depth refs, i mean fair dinkum its a farce they are ruining this once great game, and strangly both of us were worried with our posts before the clash that we hoped the refs woudnt wreck what was to be a brilliant and hard fought game.im taking nothing away from the broncs win mark, but the turbo incident i mean weather or not the ball bounces he still catches it on the full, dont you think its still a dangerous takle,i mean mead did nothing wrong the rule book states u can do that, but my argument is he still had both legs off the ground it really puzzles me.lots of grey areas in our game and how many forward passess over the whole weekend in most of the games thats another thing that has to be looked at.surely all this can be fixed and train up new refs that can keep up with the game, get rid of that stupid bunker and lets get back the glory days when the nrl was king and rugby league was the greatest game of all mind you many still think it is.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
great news all you mighty eagles supporters toomy turbo not out for the year, scans showed not a serious injury as we all thiought, but we lose him for up to 6 weeks, gosh im so relieved though to lose him for that peiod is a big loss, but we will be fine the boys will find a way dont worry about that,he may be available for soo 3 crossing my fingers and hoping so.
so great news the young gun will be back to terrorize once again go you mighty eagle.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Thinker
It was about 2 years ago that I stumbled onto your website and ever since I have been reading your previews of the NRL games and I am thoroughly impressed. You know what you are talking about. I’ve been using your tips for my tipping competitions and have won them for the last 2 years. I also tell my fellow tipsters who I follow for my tips, it’s up to them if they use it or not.
Keep up the good work and perhaps tell Wally and Gus if you meet him to ready your previews before they go on air and give their tips. I don’t mean any disrespect to them. Slowly I am thinking like you. Who would have picked the Titans – Storm game and you even got the margin
Best wishes
Ronald Travasso
