Good luck Christine

Good riddance to see NZ lose

The Thinker's picture

Wonderful results today...unless you are a kiwi of course.

christine 's picture

Thanks to all for your kind thoughts I appreciate it , & "A" & mary s just call me chris from now on & in the event that another chris comes along then call me Christine ok...

mark ashford's picture

Thinker & "a"
I was very happy to see the Fijians get a win over the Kiwis.
Not that I don't like the Kiwis, I thought they played well below their usual game. I just can't enjoy supporting any team with Hayne in it.
Without the Kiwis it looks like another shoe in for the Aussies.
"Yawn" Won't get excited until March 2018.

Mary S's picture

Fine by me - thanks Chris.

@ Mark - agree with your sentiments about Hayne!! Was certainly a low scoring game.

Steel Panther's picture

I hope your treatment goes well Chris. Wishing you all the very best from this side of the Tasman.

Yip it's been tough being a Kiwi league supporter this tournament. Way down on some of our best troops Foran, Harris, Procter & Bromich just to name a few. The cowardly defection of Taumalolo hurt too. Play for your country of descent yea but at least be man enough to tell the country you're shafting. Kidwell's coaching now coming under close scrutiny.

Steel Panther's picture

Could my mood get any worse.....RIP Malcolm Young ????

christine 's picture

Thanks steel panther for your kind thoughts for both myself & Malcolm young I too grew up with ac/dc & i'm sure mark ashford would be devastated at the moment so yeh R.I.P Malcolm Young you are a legend & always will be ...

mark ashford's picture

Chris & Steel
Yeah sad day for me.
Malcolm Young was an incredible musician, writing most of AC/DC hits with Angus and help from older brother George who of course knocked our socks off with the Easybeats.
What an incredibly talented family.
English migrants to this country but we claimed them as our own and proudly called them (both bands) as Aussies.
Cheeky and naughty Bon Scott was the best lead singer (imo) who can forget him on Countdown with a large sausage stuffed to the left of his tight jeans, young girls fainting, goodness I hope it was a sausage!
RIP Malcolm Young you won't be forgotten.

a's picture

Yes it's sad to see to see Malcolm Young even know I not a huge AC/DC fan it was still sad to see Malcolm Young die so R.I.P Malcolm Young you will be missed by fans

a's picture

But really how many celebrities have died in the last 2 years

We had
David Bowie
Prince
Roger Moore
George Michael
Carrie Fisher
chester bennington
Chris Connell

But the other day lots of you'd probably won't know him and trust me I didn't either know him but a music artist named Lil Peep die at the age of 21 and to me that's really sad to see people pass away this young good god who's next

christine 's picture

In case you all missed the news Mitchel pearce has asked for a release from roosters with 2yrs on his contract to go ...

Steel Panther's picture

Mark & Chris...hope you are both well. The World Cup just doesn't get me as excited as the regular NRL season not withstanding the very very poor showing by NZ. They are getting an absolute roasting here in the media after one of the worst ever performances against Fiji. This on the back of a poor showing against Tonga. Coach Kidwell, Captain Blair and prima donna Johnson have had the nerve to somehow blame the fans for the poor onfield performances. Check out the link below.

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/league/news/article.cfm?c_id=79&objectid=11946014

Going back to the passing of Malcolm Young, I cut my teeth listening to AC/DC and have seen them many times in concert. My musical tastes are diverse but I've always lent towards the harder rock or "heavy metal" as it's often referred to.

I see the Warriors have announced the signing of Blake Green from Manly.....honestly what is Green thinking...it must only be for the money.

christine 's picture

Steel panther Green is going to warriors because he wants to slacken off have a break so to speak there is no other logical explanation for it , good players go to warriors & become bad players & bad players go to storm & become good , sorry to say it steel panther but one day maybe just one day they might just get it right ...

BigPeteBx's picture

Hello Chris,
First chance I've had to get a word to you.
I hope all things go well for you with the first treatment.
Thinking of you, as time ticks away before Christmas and then into it in January, like I.

Keep well - Big Pete

BigPeteBx's picture

Mary/Mark,
Certainly a low scoring game with NZ v Fiji.
More like a soccer match.

BigPeteBx's picture

Chris and Steely - Countdown with Molly M.
Great show.
As I mentioned before, Easybeats lead Stevie W won't be forgotten either.
I saw AC/DC, Hush, Ol 55, America and several others here in Bx at our local City Hall, in its day. Now rebuilt and known as BMEC and I'm seeing Jimmy Barnes there in April 2018 and most likely Marina Prior and David Hobson in May 2018.

I love my music and it is mixed. Off to see Paul McCartney in Sydney next month. Pabdul knows I'm heading that way, that's probably why he's laying low here - the bugger.
I still reckon both Paul Mc and Lennon were great songwriters of our era.

Cheers and all keep well - Big Pete

BigPeteBx's picture

I think Chris, that Blake Green might be that little something to add some spark to a lifeless Warriors backline.
But we cant expect him to break his gut for them, unless the rest get their fingers out and strike a blow. I felt both he and DCE formed a good combination at Manly.
He's born Aussie and captained 2004 Aust Schoolboys team. Attended Westfields Sports High. Played in UK Super League as well as three other NRL clubs.
We'll see who is coming in to partner DCE and if I think honours and achievements - Junior Junior might be the go.

Cheers and keep well
Big Pete

mark ashford's picture

Hi Big Pete, Chris, Steel and others.
I've never been a Mitch Pearce fan (being a QLDer) but hell you gotta feel for the guy. 9 years of his career given to the Chooks and ends up being pushed out by an x storm player and what's worst a QLDer.
I thought that he has played his best footy in the past 2 years and really is Cronk a better player?
If he ends up at Manly look out Roosters when you meet.
My local paper has Hayne at the Eels next year. He hasn't yet sought a release as he's waiting for his next 2 monthly paychecks from the Titans totaling $180,000.
IMO players like Jarryd Hayne are a blight on the game, living on huge egos and the desire for money.
Look for an announcement around Christmas time.
STEEL your Kiwis are a lot better than what we have seen for the past couple of weeks. A new coach is maybe all that is needed.

mark ashford's picture

While we are reminiscing about some heavy metal do you remember "In da gadda da vida" by Iron Butterfly?
The song was originally written as "In the garden of Eden etc"
but the band was so wasted at the recording it came out as it did.
The producers liked it as it was and we ended up with one of the best metal songs of all time.
Another personal favourite was Vanilla Fudge's version of "you keep me hanging on" covered an entire side of a 78.
Ah memories. Both are available on google or iTunes to jog your memory.

a's picture

Well I hope Hayne is playing reserve grade next year

BigPeteBx's picture

Iron Butterfly Mark A.
I bought the album off a mate of mine, back in mid 70's.
I wasn't really into punk rock, heavy metal stuff - but if a song rang a good note and not out of this world, I'd have a good listen.
Hummin Mark - you've kept me hangin in there, Fudgey mate.......

BigPeteBx's picture

'a' - I'd prefer Hayne in Z-Grade. He's greedy and trouble and too self-centred for my likings.

NBL - mate. Sixers got home on weekend.
Get this into ya, where I work, we have a bloke, in the building, who looks about 6ft 9 and was telling me he played for Taipans and Kings before he moved out my way. I'm trying to get his name, as it might ring a bell or send the 30 second timer going off.

Keep well 'a'
Big Pete

christine 's picture

Hi Pete When I said that to steel panther before about green it was steel that put an article up for us to read from matt Elliot to say good players go to warriors & become bad players & bad players go to storm & become good players & seeing matt Elliot was the coach at the time that's a poor attitude to have about your own team ,you can't improve the team with that sort of mind set so green might regret it I think ...

BigPeteBx's picture

Hey Johnny Awesome and Doggie - if/when you happen to be checking in Dunstan. Get your hands on that vid and watch it. Its a ripper with a bit of monkeying around it. Zoo monkey I mean and a kid and his dad who run the large hotel. Good one for young kids and big ones to.

Now the reason for the post - I see where money is going to be injected into Kandos - Rylstone rail line and Tarana - Oberon to run heritage trains etc. Talk about pie-eyed politicians wanting to close rail lines and now the wheel has been re-invented. For the memories Awesome - The Rylstone Rambler.

Cheers Guys and keep well
Big Pete

BigPeteBx's picture

No probs Chris - I must have missed The Elliott lines.
But I liked Blake Green and a very nifty sidestep on him. Maybe Warriors might see a playmaker in him. Anyway, a change is as good as a holiday for him.

You keep well Miss Chris
Pete C Eagle.

a's picture

Yep BigPete in NBL I think Adelaide sure did flog Sydney I think Andrew Glaze coaching job is in huge trouble at Sydney because Sydney are playing awful

The Annoying Devil's picture

Maybe Andrew Glaze could get a job at Kristina kremes

The Annoying Devil's picture

Krispy kremes
Dam u spell check

Mary S's picture

Is it the equipment, or the attention of the operator TAD?????
Cheers to all,
Mary

Steel Panther's picture

Mark....agree about the Kiwis. We are a lot better than that. Sadly the Kiwis WC tournament has almost been a mirror of what we see week in week out at the Warriors. Shaun Johnson now back pedaling in the media about his "blaming the fans" comments. That guy has to be one of the most over rated players doing the rounds. Not expecting any improvement with the arrival of Green. On paper we always look good but sadly that doesn't transform to our on field performance.

Good to hear from you Big Pete...the NBL at least has some positives for me with the Breakers traveling well!!

The Annoying Devil's picture

Ok Mary I was a bit tired and my eyes were glazed.

Baggy_Gee's picture

Maybe Pete, the Jarred Hayne machine is headed to the beach and you guys will get him next year, that's why Greene was shuffled off into the sunset. I'll say it till I'm blue in the face, he had his time at Parra, now its time for him to go join any other team but ours. Manly is just as good as anyone else.

The Annoying Devil's picture

Baggy
I’ve got some good news and some bad news
The bad news is the plane is heading to parra but like mark said it won’t be announced till January so he’ll get his $90k for November and December
The good news is their offloading Kenny Edwards and are on the verge of snapping up Dylan Naper

a's picture

I really hope Hayne plays reserve grade

BigPeteBx's picture

Good one TAD.
Don't know about spell check mate, just damn the donut.
Or, if you dam the donuts up, call on us all and we'll have a couple of lattes and roly poly donuts with you.

BigPeteBx's picture

Breakers going great guns for you Steely.
Phoenix at home to Mariners this round.

Ange called it a day with Socceroos. I think deep down he may have had some player issues. But Socceroos should not have got themselves into the position they did. They should have nailed Iran and Thailand. Hell 42 shots against Thailand and they couldn't bury one.
If they go to World Cup in Russia like that, they'll be home after the preliminaries and can watch it on tv. Forget about Football Aust looking for an overseas coach and paying out big bucks on him. Just take a local.
Arnie would be the best of ours at present, but don't disadvantage Sydney FC for it, as they are going extra well, to date.

Cheers mate and keep well
Big Pete

BigPeteBx's picture

Thanks for the recommendation Baggy, but it s not over until the fat lady sings and I'll hang in there with Junior Junior for now, or until Chris sees some social media print on it and gives us a spray with it.

Cheers mate and good to see you having a peek in.
Big Pete

Baggy_Gee's picture

That's Bad and Worse news TAD, Kenny is a 50/50 player, but he can make things happen, but the way he is always hugging kissing and giving the guys a dry one on field is worrisome. Again to Napa, Don't come, we have a lot of good second rowers who make yards and we don't want someone who is going to be out over the origin period. So SOD OFF BOTH OF YOU OVER PAID MUGS. On the flip side the Roosters are sheding a bit to get Cronk in.............. bad move if you ask me.

mark ashford's picture

Baggy if you score Dylan Napper (why isn't he going to the Broncs) you will get a big man with heaps of go forward and punishing tackles.
if you don't want him no problem I'll ring Wayne.
I've gotta admit I'm a bit lost with all these transfers.
So you can't afford Mitch Pearce but you can afford Cronk.
Once again the NRL transfer period leaves most fans scratching their heads.
Moylan probably the best Penrith player let go for who??
Broncs let go 2 or 3 of their best for who?
Why are the fans last to know, and what's planned.
I guess we don't really count, only the sponsors.

Baggy_Gee's picture

I know he's a good player Mark, its just who do we lose to take on another 500K player. Its like the Roosters, how much do they have to give up future wise, to get Cronk for a year or two. If he doesn't deliver the win in the next two years then they have to rebuild. I would rather say no to a player like Nappa, and develop internal talent to be as good as, if not better, and then pay them top dollar to stay. I agree with what the hell is happening at the Broncos. Adam Blair gone is good, you wouldn't have a first grade team on the park after the first 6 weeks of next year, but Herman's been going fairly well in the RLWC. I think the Clowns at the top of the clubs need to relax, and think long term for team development and let other teams chase the win now and damn the future mindset.

Christine 's picture

Pete I wasn't giving you a spray be fair all I said about warriors is exactly what steel had said before from Matt Elliot & to update you all in regards of me having my first lot of treatment they have to make sure first between now & the 31st Jan that I'm cancer free or I can't have the treatment because the treatment form me affects the treatment for cancer...

Mary S's picture

Know what you mean Mark about the transfers!!!
I noticed that nrl.com had updated the list today of player transfers, so, out of interest, decided to do a little exercise.
Currently, player movement is as follows:
Broncos = 3 Ins, 7 Outs
Raiders = 6 Ins, 7 Outs
Bulldogs = 6 Ins, 7 Outs
Sharks = 6 Ins, 8 Outs
Titans = 5 Ins, 7 Outs
Sea Eagles = 3 Ins, 4 Outs
Storm = 8 Ins, 7 Outs
Knights= 8 Ins, 15 Outs
Cowboys = 2 Ins, 4 Outs
Eels= 1 Ins, 5 Outs
Panthers = 0 Ins, 7 Outs
Rabbitohs = 4 Ins, 7 Outs
Dragons= 5 Ins, 8 Outs
Roosters = 2 Ins, 6 Outs
Warriors = 9 Ins, 9 Outs
Wests Tigers = 9 Ins, 10 Outs
Roosters, Cowboys, Eels, Panthers, Broncos and Manly have the least number of new players in from other teams - perhaps they are giving some of their local talent a chance to shine!!!!

Will be interesting to see what the final figures are before play next year!!!
Cheers to all
Mary

BigPeteBx's picture

Chris - I wouldn't be unfair to you. I didn't mean you giving us a spray with what you were updating us on. I mean giving us the update, on your footy/sport research through the day, whilst some or most of us, are at work or offline with our computers.
It is really appreciated, the footy news that you send down the line.

A former workmate I knew in timekeeping, used to always say "spray that again" as in say that again.
I hope your treatment goes extra well for you and that you don't need the second. One would think that specialists that are about these days, would be making sure that any treatment or drugs doesn't react with others. Usually when procedures are being done, the hospital involved has a questionnaire filled out, so that surgeons/anaesthetists and others are aware of what a patient is taking or has been prescribed. I know I was told to get off fish oil supplements for starters, before eye and skin lesion op.

You take care and try not to keep thinking of what you are venturing into with medico's. The last thing you need, is high stress levels before an op.
Pete

BigPeteBx's picture

Hey BG -
I caught a glimpse of 2018 Parra home and away jerseys today.
Don't mind the look and reminds me of the early days with Thornett's, Hambly, Rushworth and Co.

Cheers mate - Big Pete

Baggy_Gee's picture

looks pretty flash, Can see that on the dais at the end of season lifting the trophy.

mark ashford's picture

Hi Mary S
Thanks for that info.
Surely an incredible amount of movement.
My argument has always been how do you know the player you bought will perform at his new club.
Cronk is a great player aided by Smith, Slater and all the Storm boys.
Most of whom he plays with at the Maroons.
Will he fit in with the "enemy" Roosters who have some very good Blues in their side (another enemy)
And so it goes on with all the other transfers.
A perfect example is Hayne going to the Titans on big money.
AND did absolutely nothing for the club except get a perfectly good coach sacked. Now he will sneak out the back door and take his disruption back to the Eels. Sorry Baggy but I believe it's a done deal.
We have a salary cap to keep things even.
It's time the NRL imposed some sort of player cap to really even out the field.

christine 's picture

Thanks for clearing that up pete for me I appreciate you doing so for me & in regards of my treatment it's not a case of if the first one works then you won't need more it's not a cure you can't cure ms once you have it you have it for the rest of your life but the good news is you don't die of having ms you die having ms & if there is no reaction from the first lot of treatment then I have the second lot two weeks later & I think it's every 6 months after that for the rest of my life but it all comes down to if I have a reaction or not to begin with , sorry if I up date you all too much with nrl news i'm not actually on the computer all day I do have a life outside of nrl , cooking , shopping ,& trying to escape reality of what I have to do ...

christine 's picture

That meant to say you don't die of ms you die with ms ...
