Round nine selections

South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Wests Tigers – Thursday night – ANZ Stadium

It seems a long time ago, but it wasn't, when the Rabbitohs and Tigers were at the top of the table. Both teams won their first two games of the season, and by convincing margins. The Bunnies scored 90 points in their first two outings, but they haven't scored 20 points in a game since. The Tigers scored 70 points in their first two outings, and have scored 20 points in a game just once since. I'm no mathemagician, but if you want to win games you need to be scoring points. Last weekend the Tigers conceded 60 in what will probably be their low water mark in season 2016 - at least I hope it was. We're likely to see a Dead Tigger Bounce on Thursday night but how high can Tigger bounce? These two teams have managed just one win between them in the last six rounds, but at least the Bunnies had a go last Friday night. Clearly the Tigers put the cue in the rack against the Raiders, and that's not rugby league. Not the rugby league I like I tells ya. Neither team can be tipped with confidence but I can't the Tigers full stop.

Verdict – Rabbitohs by 4

Result - Tigers 30 defeated Rabbitohs 22

Parramatta Eels vs Canterbury Bulldogs – Friday night – ANZ Stadium

These sides met back in round three on this night at this venue, and the Eels absolutely dominated. The Bulldogs scored a consolation try to make the score (look) respectable, but all respect was with the Eels that night. Their forwards were expected to crumble under Bulldog pressure but crumble they did not. What makes that performance even more impressive is that they were without Nathan Peats and Manu Ma'u in that game, and both players are lacing on boots on Friday. Semi 'The Big Australian' Radradra scored two tries in round three in one of his best performances thus far. Given his recent call-up to national honours another big game wouldn't surprise. The Bulldogs are hard to get a read on this season - they drift in and out of games like a truck driver 42 hours into a 48 hour shift. If they're on they'll win, but they're on less often than Bert Newton at the minute.

Verdict – Eels by 8

Result - Eels 20 defeated Bulldogs 12

Penrith Panthers vs Canberra Raiders – Saturday afternoon – Carrington Park

Last week I pointed out how much the Panthers were scoring every round. They maintained the pattern in round 8 so I may as well point it out again - 22, 16, 23, 12, 20, 18, 16, 18. It doesn't seem to matter whether they're playing the Broncos or the Roosters, the Panthers score about the same number of points every game. The Raiders usually score more points than that, including in round one when they beat the Panthers 30-22 in Canberra. Now this game isn't in Canberra but it's not in Penrith either. Segeyaro returns this week, with Wallace switching back to the halves to replace the injured Martin. That's a darn good spine the Panthers have there (Segeyaro, Wallace, Soward and Moylan), but it might take them a week or two to gel. The Raiders are outsiders but backable at the price.

Verdict – Raiders by 2

Result - Panthers 19 defeated Raiders 18

Sydney Roosters vs Newcastle Knights – Saturday night – Allianz Stadium

I've an uneasy feeling saying this, but the Roosters are rolled-gold, lock-of-the-week, get-in-the-queue, red-spot specials this week. Everyone's favourite dog handler is back and he's bringing Waerea-Hargreaves with him. Those two will be desperate to get off the leash and onto the field. Here's to you Mrs Robinson had a bit of a spray after the ANZAC Day game, but let's be blunt - when you let your opponent get out to an 18-0 lead you can't afford a single dud call from an official. Laugh about it shout about it when you've got to choose. Every way you look at it you lose. The Knights have named a squad of 20 for this game so it's hard to know what their team will look like, but they haven't named Mullen and this very young Knights side will struggle without an experienced organiser and playmaker.

Verdict – Roosters by 20

Result - Roosters 38 defeated Knights 0

Manly Sea Eagles vs North Queensland Cowboys – Saturday night – Brookvale Oval

The big news leading into this game is that Sea Eagles captain Jamie Lyon has announced he will retire at the end of this season so he can focus on representative footy. Hyuk hyuk hyuk....I like that one....well done Thinker old chap. Regardless of whatever sense of occasion the Lyon announcement brings, the Cowboys are too good. Far too good.

Verdict – Cowboys by 10

Result - Cowboys 34 defeated Sea Eagles 18

New Zealand Warriors vs St George Illawarra Dragons – Sunday afternoon – Mt Smart Stadium

It looks like those bookies are going to let me back the Dragons again this weekend. Granted they have to travel all the way from Sydney to Auckland, but the Warriors have to travel all the way from Melbourne to Auckland. If this game were in Sydney I suspect the Dragons would be favourites, but the Dragons have won 6 from 9 at Mt Smart. In fact, the Dragons have only lost to the Warriors four times anywhere. Warriors coach Andrew McFadden shook the cage and told everyone to lift their game or else. That didn't work last time and I've no reason to believe it will work this time. Mannering out. Lolohea out. I can't have them.

Verdict – Dragons by 4

Result - Warriors 26 defeated Dragons 10

Gold Coast Titans vs Melbourne Storm – Sunday afternoon – Cbus Super Stadium

The Storm haven't unleased in attack too often this season, but they did last week and they did in round two when they played the Titans in Melbourne. Billy Slater was a late withdrawal from that game and the virtually unknown Curtis Scott stepped in to fill the void. A 42-0 victory last round is difficult to ignore, even if the opposition that day was questionable. While the Titans have shown plenty of competitive spirit in recent weeks they've still lost four games in a row. I've no doubt they'll be competitive again this Sunday, but they're facing a team who know how to win the close games better than anyone else.

Verdict – Storm by 1

Result - Storm 38 defeated Titans 0

Cronulla Sharks vs Brisbane Broncos – Sunday afternoon – Southern Cross Group Stadium

Those in the Shire are getting a little bit excited about their team in season 2016...and that's okay. They're winning games and they're playing with an expansive flair that we haven't seen from Cronulla for many years. But....and there's always a but, the Broncos have conceded just one try in their last three games. Cronulla are one of the form teams in the competition but the Broncos are the form team in the competition. Nikorima will be tested by the Cronulla forwards in the nine jersey as he takes on more minutes, but the return of Alex Glenn for the visitors eases some of my concerns on that front. It's the game of the round and it will go to the wire. Broncos...just

Verdict – Broncos by 4

Result - Sharks 30 defeated Broncos 28

My silly picture corresponds with my silly name.. :-P so sorry I exposed you.. And all this time these boys were fooled lol. Reverse pic lookup online is handy.. Especially with online dating you should try it ha!

Fortress eagle if your just going to be like that the Thinker can kick you off the site calling some of the best people like me Baggy and Coach idiots is not on here

The Joker's picture

Can we all just settle and face the fact of cowboys winning by 14 lol

Coach Potato's picture

Hey Fortress, aren't you the big toughy of the playground - telling off a harmless cartoon of a potato watching a bit of tele, wondering who is going to help with damn remote. Real tough aren't you.

Let's see how many times you press your bloody exclamation marks after the Cowboys run riot.

The Joker's picture

Here's a joke from the joker to lighten the mood..
why did the scarecrow win an award?...
Because he was outstanding in his field ;)

Coach Potato's picture

No, I think Footy Chick still has a full bladder after that one.

Coach Potato's picture

Hey Thinker, on your way back from your 9th round, whatever you do, don't Hail Mary.

Baggy_Gee's picture

I can't believe that the dead Tiger bounce happened. What a turn around from a team thrashed by 54 last week. But this does bode badly for the Rabbits, apart from the random nature of some of the teams in the bottom 8 they don't seem to be able to put it together on a regular basis.

Don't worry "a", ignorance is bliss. Don't read them and the posts won't bother you.

Coach Potato's picture

No Foran. Not gonna be easy for Parra now.

If it was up to me I would move
Norman from 6 to 7
Peats from 9 into the 6
De Gois off the bench, into the 9

Coach Potato's picture

At the end of 2017 season Australia, New Zealand , and PNG will jointly host the Rugby League World Cup.

Radradra to wear the sacred Green and Gold against his own people of Fiji? Doubt it. What's the bet, the draw won't allow these two teams to meet in what would be an 80 minute boo-athon.

Fortress eagle's picture

I was only sticking up for myself cowboy u can put my team down saying we are the worst team far from it where is the respect I love my team like u love yours to insite hatred towards a team is not on either I believe in my team manly the bulldogs Brisbane Melbourne parramatta Canberra these clubs since the 70's have been the giants of the nrl until your club builds a resume to equal these clubs then really u can't put a case forward I'm very passionate love my team love the game.im not on here to make dramas but for some reasons the hatred towards manly is becoming boring and ur comment manly win games because of the ref go tell me Robinson of the roosters the 2013 grand final sonny bills forward pass cost us the title but u cop it on the chin and move on. What's good for the goose is good for the gander satulurday notes game yes you are the favourites but if we are going to knock you off than the fortress is the place we can do it and we do have stars in our team that can give this game a shake yes ur mob is going great guns but upsets do happen and I believe we may see one on Saturday night once again it's my team and I'm allowed to give them my full support hope to see u at the game good luck and go the mighty eaglesssssssssss!!!!!!!!

a's picture

Thanks Baggy Hopefully your Eels get up tonight

Baggy_Gee's picture

Yeah, it'll be a lot harder. Coach we need Kelly in to take some of the kicking load off Norman, he looks a lot better when he has the option to run rather than be the no.1 kicker. But definitely want to keep Peats in at the 9. You can always see the difference in our attack when he's dummy half. I'm thinking that there is un-voiced angst at the deeper level's of the team that aren't being exposed to the media and therefore staying silent. So when this is all wrapped up and we get dudded, there needs to be a long hard look at NRL HQ to see if there is a better way of teams transparently managing contracts and the cap. This system of allow all the money to be handled in the back room is stuff of the past, sponsors should be allowed into empty boxes as part of the third party deals, and third parties should be abolished.

mark ashford's picture

Hi Baggy
I agree about 3rd party deals. Hate it. No doubt Broncs, storm and to a lessor degree Cows have an advantage being one team cities and towns. The cap is supposed to make it even but who knows what goes on with these deals.
I must admit I don't understand how it works and would love someone to enlighten me.
I feel very sorry for Keiran Foran. Breakups are never easy. No doubt the Eels will support him all the way. Not what you need guys with this cap crap hanging over you.
Coach or Thinker can you explain the 3rd party thing?

On a lighter note, I'm devastated to think that Footy Chick may in fact be Footy Bloke!

mark ashford's picture

Souths were woeful last night. Not taking anything away from the Tiges they played their best game of the year.
Burgess boys and others went missing....why?
Would Souths management be thinking why have we paid so much for the Burgesses.
Is Maguire in trouble?
Who will be the first coach to go in 2016

Coach Potato's picture

Hi Mark, I don't know this, but just using logic, this is my understanding...

Eg. A player is currently on a $500,000 a year contract. His club, fully aware of the annual budget known as the salary cap, is negotiating an extension to this contract. He's a vital part of the team. They don't want to lose him. Other clubs are putting in bids of between $600,000
and $700,000 for him to leave. What can the club do to keep him? Easy. Bring in 3rd parties (corporations with no direct employer-employee relationship) to help make up the difference. Even make it look less accountable by offering non-monetary goods such as cars and boats (yes boats Greg Inglis), and even houses (yes you Scott Prince). With the extra bonuses, the player is now more comfortable about staying.

Make no mistake though, and here's the key. Players who are involved in 3rd party deals will "never" be unaware of this arrangement. They know by entering into such a deal that they are directly cheating the salary cap. All this crap from cheats eg Slater coming out and saying he had no idea what was involved with it all. B/shit mate.

Cheating the cap is not just about the clubs. It's about teams full of compliant cheating players.

So now what do you think of Parra and it's players? What do you think of other teams and their players who have been busted? What do you think of your own Broncos who refused the NRL to investigate them re. $300k in unaccounted transactions?

Should a club such as Parra just lose 8 points, that's it, then possibly still go on and win the comp. You decide.

mark ashford's picture

Thanks Coach that explains it a bit.
Is there a cap on 3rd party agreements?
I remember the Inglis boat thing and the Scotty Prince house or was it houses?
Were these illegal 3rd party things and if so what constitutes a "legal" 3rd party payment?
The whole thing stinks to me. It should be the cap and nothing else. But how do you police it?
Like if I was a millionaire Broncos supporter and I went to Milford and said there's another $30,000 a week cash or whatever for you if you stay at the Broncs for another 5 years. How can it be policed?
Are the players required to provide personal bank account details to the NRL?
With regard to the Broncs breach. Yes they stonewalled the NRL and it was referred to the ACCC who found they coud not find sufficient evidence to prosecute.
Please believe me when I say if it was found that the Broncs had "cheated" I would want them dealt with accordingly.
Sure I'm a Broncs supporter but I love the game more and don't forgive cheats.
I prefer to see Management fined and no loss of points as I've said before, that only hurts fans.
You are no doubt right that players are aware of breaches but can you blame them?
In an industry that the average lifespan at top level is I believe 3.5 years, wouldn't you want to get the most out of it?
I don't know what the answer is (don't know the answer to many things) but please don't hurt the fans.
Your final question is easy to answer. If Parra lose 8 points and still go on to win the comp then good luck to them...it won't happen.

The Joker's picture

I've seen enough forward passes from the eels

The Thinker's picture

Mark A,

Here's a pretty thorough summary of the Salary Cap structure, including marquee payments and how the third party deals work (as an example - you might have seen ads involving Billy Slater, Greg Inglis and Jonathan Thurston...as long as the player isn't wearing club/NRL clothing it should be okay as long as the NRL approve the arrangement):

NRL PAYMENTS FOR THE TOP 25

$6.1 million - Basic payments for the Top 25 players including Sponsor Servicing Allowance ($200k) which is automatically given to all clubs to compensate players for club sponsorship activities including appearances and endorsements.

Also included is a Long Serving Player Allowance ($300K) per Club for eligible players who have played more than six continuous years of grade football with that club including Holden Cup and NSW Cup.

+ $243,750 per team - Paid by the NRL to the RLPA towards players' Retirement Account Contribution.

+ $100,000 per team - Paid by the NRL to the RLPA towards their administration funding.

*Payments under the actual salary cap total $6.30 million paid directly by clubs across the Top 25 players. The additional $343,750 paid into the RLPA Retirement and Administration Fund Contribution is not defined as a salary cap payment.

What players can earn outside the salary cap:

$600,000 - Marquee Player Allowance - any or all of the Top 25 players at each club can share in payments made by club sponsors seeking to use a player's intellectual property. These may be guaranteed in the playing contract by clubs.

$100,000 - Motor Vehicle Allowance – a maximum amount of five motor vehicles may be provided to players in the Top 25 outside of the salary cap. (Valued at $20,000 each).

Unlimited - Players can earn unlimited amounts from corporate sponsors who are not associated with the club and who do not use the game's intellectual property (no club logos, jerseys or emblems) provided these are pre-approved. These agreements may not be negotiated by the club as an incentive for a player to sign a contract, nor can they be guaranteed by the club.

Unlimited - Tertiary education fees, approved traineeships, medical insurance costs, relocation/temporary accommodation costs are not included in the cap but must be approved.

a's picture

Wow they do get paid a lot

Coach Potato's picture

Ahh Baggy, did the Bunker just say regards the Kasiano effort "the player loses control and then needs to regrip the ball to be deemed to have retained control". Isn't that what I wrote only some weeks back??? For all the crap I put on the Bunker, do they actually read this stuff and take notice?

Johnny Ray's picture

Awesome. Thank you for that Thinker. Personally I still would like to know how Greg Inglis got speed boat as part of his contract negotiations. I mean I've been through alot of jobs (you can tell ;-D ... ) and not once has a speedboat ever been brought up in my contract discussions. Seriously it sounds like something a ten year old would come up with ( ... I want a new pair of pants, a million dollars and a speedboat or I'm not playing with you guys, so there ... ) and I would know. I once tried to have a ball pit installed in my corner office ... ;- D

Coach Potato's picture

My comment from a month ago, just four weeks, where the interpretation of ball control now is nothing like the Paulo try from that week. Below is the actual Bunker review confirming TRY.

Tonight I heard the Bunker use the term re-"grip" in defining ball control. I'd like to think this page paved the way.....

Here is the Bunker view of the Junior Paulo effort. My view is, although there is no separation, that doesn't mean a player hasn't lost control. You haven't been able to follow the ball to the ground with you fingertips for years. Now you can again??? My view is if you have lost "grasp" or a "grip" on the ball, you have lost control. The test for me is if a player could stop the ball from hitting the ground if they wanted to, then they have control. If they couldn't stop the ball from hitting the ground, even if they wanted to, then that player has lost control. Here is exhibit A ..

Coach Potato's picture

Apologies, the Bunker review seems to have been deleted off the internet. Surprise surprise.

Foran u are champion mate wishing u all the best even though you left us your beloved eagles we all still love you mate u have the corage and determination to fight this ur talent ur championship qualities are incredible miss watching you play in the famous maroon and whites but you will always be a manly man. Sad to hear the killer the Lyon king retiring at the end of the year what a champion player and champion player he announced his retirement in typical Jamie Lyon fashion no fanfare very laid back and understated a typical country boy and a legendary manly man.come on boys let's win the title and send the greatest centre of this era a send off he deserves if we can make the semifinals we will give it a mighty shake.cherry Evans has a lot to prove tommoz to the qld selectors I believe he will shine tommorrow nite and silence all the haters and critics a great talent go cherry show them mate and last but not least go the mighty eaglessssssssssssssss!!!!!!!

Sending a big hello to big Pete of sbox hope to see u tomorrow nite at the fortress mate big crowd and a very important game we will give it a mighty shake hope to cheer them on to a mighty victory and as always go the mighty eaglessssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Coach Potato's picture

I'm just wondering whether James Graham and Sam Burgess are eligible to be picked in the Kiwi side. There's not a skerrick of New Zealander in either of them, so they have the same eligibility as Radradra has to be picked for the Aussies. None.

Don't need to hold a passport or have citizenship to wear the green and gold? That is so on the nose. I've never seen the famous Jersey cheapened so badly. Gonna have to support the Kiwis next week.

Coach Potato's picture

Hey NRL, Canberra play in Bathurst Saturday afternoon and then have to come back to Kogarah next Thursday night. Will you be chartering more aircraft to get them home later than the 3hr bus drive?

Fortress eagle's picture

Come on all you mighty eagles supporters let's all get out there and cheer the boys on let's pack it out I'm sure the big atmosphere will give the boys that extra lift go the mighty eaglesssssssss!!!!!!!!

BigPeteBx's picture

Yes Coach, I know. It is spitty showers at present. Rained overnight, as forecasted and expected. The ground should be nice for running on. Not rock hard like The Flintstones bedrock (hard surface) you mentioned earlier in the week. I am picking Panthers to win. Anthony Griffin is quoted in our weekend local paper that stop Josh Hodgson and that will go a long way to deciding the outcome of todays match.
Lets just hope the two earlier games dont carve up the ground too much as that will make the ball greasy to handle. Breeze blowing up now, so the kicking game will need to be spot on.
Take care Coach - its a Winter sport and thank all, that it isnt snowing or icy conditions. Grab a cup a soup and warm yourself up.
Cheers - Big Pete in Bx

BigPeteBx's picture

Wish I could Fortress. I havent seen a game at Brookie since Souths v Manly back in late 70's. I would need to take coach/train to the game and stay overnight in motel and then do the same to return. I will do it when my community commitments arent as many. I'll be watching progress scores as I dont have Pay TV. Another story, as to where that fits with the Media Moguls. Free to Air is my go Bro. Yes, I know I am missing out on a lot but I cant just be watching tv but instead plan my days/dates to view matches. Like Man Utd in FA Cup - early am match that is with matc sticks to keep the eyes open.
Take care mate and have a great weekend.

BigPeteBx's picture

Nah Coach, if they havent got coaches, they must have found some Lost Arks instead. Mate, the sun is shining here at present, but still breezy.
I have short sleeved Summer shirt on, until I head up the CBD. Panthers did the schools, coaching clinics, media interviews etc. Sticky had The Raiders wrapped in cotton wool and media, I am lead to believe were locked out from their training session/s. Well, Thursday's they were.

Baggy_Gee's picture

The biggest issue with the Parramatta salary cap is that unlimited third party part were the sponsor's need to stay at arms length from the club. The silly part is if management hadn't offered an empty box for the some games to sponsor's then all of this wouldn't have come up. But an empty box is an empty box and to sweeten the sponsor's I'd offer it to keep the guys onside. This is why we need to rework the unlimited part of the third parties or scrap them all together. Thanks to the Thinker for breaking down the cap bonuses, I'm fine with an extra $700,000 being shared amongst the top 25. You bigger name players get to divide the $600,000 and some of the lesser players get free cars. Everyone is in an area where motor dealerships are rife, i.e. Parramatta's magic mile is just the other side of the train station. Maybe we allow the unlimited part to be poured into the above $600,000 and shared between the playing group on mad Monday, or as the funding for the end of year trip. This still means that one horse towns will have a far bigger pot of cash at the end of the season, but it also allows for teams that have a definitive area of residential and commercial. Rabbits, Roosters, Tigers and Bulldogs who are all inner city might struggle against other Sydney teams such as Dragons, Eels and Panther's who have those separate area's.

BigPeteBx's picture

Morning Fortress - where do you usually sit, apart from on your feathers mate?
I'll keep an eye out for you, in case I get to the local, to watch it on Pay/Sky. Might even have an ale and think of Coach Potato having a potato and leek cup-a-soup, to keep him warm after this arvo's match here. Get on the mud runners for this one this arvo. Has been rain/showers and now sun is out and breeze is blowing, with occasional spitting "showers". Its Winter mate but A-League grand final in Adelaide tomorrow is another story as to why the play Summer Soccer (football). In short, it was to do with UK/Euro comps and getting to teams Down Under during their off-season break. Go The Mighty Eagles in an upset of a close match at Brookie. As Rod Stewart often said or sung - Tonights The Night and everthings gunna be alright!!!!!

Cheers and I know all you readers are now humming the tune.
Big Pete in a Cool Bx

BigPeteBx's picture

Yeah "a" - too much in some ways.
Especially the ones who make the news headlines, for all the wrong reasons. But interesting these dys how the contracts are all formulated. Clubs were affected, like many sports, when govt cracked down on tobacco and alcohol companies sponsoring and advertising events.
For example Cricket with Benson and Hedges/Tooheys sponsorship. How much did it knock motorsport around.... a fair whack I reckon.
Enough on that for now, as we could both speak for days on it.
Cheers and have a nice weekend - Big Pete in a cool/fresh Bathurst.

BigPeteBx's picture

They certainly were Mark. Going on form they should have won the match but instead The TigPies laid it on from the first whistle and deserved their win.
Is GI's thinking in Bronco Benny country.....he hasnt been the GI we know. Shhh.....I better keep that to myself, before he plays a blinder is first SoO.
Cheers mate and keep well - Big Pete in a Cool/fresh, slightly sunny and occasionally spitty showers of Bathurst.

BigPeteBx's picture

Gee Coach dont do that. You'll be shakin all over supporting The Shaky Isles and regretting you ever did it.
Your surname isnt Stevens is it?

Agree mate as to how our Aussie jersey has been "downgraded".
Radradra would have been better playing for his country of birth and turning it up against the players he plays against each and every week, but at a different level. Our selectors need a good kick in the butt allowing it, because they have cost a true born local player a position in the team and a chance to wear the Australian jumper.
Big Pete Bx - a true Aussie

mark ashford's picture

Thanks THINKER that pretty much explains it.
The cap is the cap and cars, marquee payments etc are ok.
3rd party deals are ok providing they are registered with the NRL and the player doesn't display his club or NRL colours.
So Maccas can give JT millions providing it's registered and he's sitting in Maccas in his undies eating a big mac (don't forget those big macs Coach!)
Seems a bit unfair to the Sydney clubs who have to compete for sponsors. If I was a Sydney player with a bit of ability I'd be busting my arse for a Storm or Broncos contract.

Johnnie Ray, I didn't know how badly you wanted a speed boat.
Perhaps if Thinker can get a boat dealer on side for this years prize, we could all agree that you win no matter where you finish.

Did Josh Reynolds lay down last night?

Big Pete What chance the mighty Spurs in the UK?

tigerholic's picture

Weldon Coach, I reckon your heart rate was running fairly high at the end there, happy for you yo be 3 from 3.

Do you know where Rocket Ryan is Coach, he has gone missing, I suppose being 0/3 can do that to these first timers to this tipping comp.

Given the drastic events with the Warriors, surely all those that tipped them can receive a get out pf jail card, those that did tip them did so in the belief that those 6 players were playing, what do you reckon Thinker?

Off to a BBQ down the road for a few coldies, then off to work tomorrow. I feel like this huge weight has lifted off my shoulders , good on ya Tigers, Jason Taylor still needs to go even after that win on Thursday night:):)

Cheers

Tottenham are a great chance at finishing 2nd. That's all there'll be left to play for after Leicester take the title at Old Trafford Monday morning.

BigPeteBx's picture

Evening Mark - I think J Reynolds went to sleep, after he laid down.
Souths were woeful.
As for Spurs, I see u r another of the great supporters they have. I work with one. Spurs can be guaranteed second. Man Utd plays Leicester at OT and have to win to get back into top 4 for Euro matches next season.
If Leicester draw with Man Utd, they can be near given The Barclays Trophy. Spurs play Chelsea this week at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge ground. I'd go to picking a draw on that one. Kane has been the shining light for Spurs this season. Great mate to have a mixed sporting culture at this site. Rugby League isnt the all and end all of sport. Rio Olympics nearing also - bring it on.
Cheers - Big Pete in Bx

Craig Heath's picture

That's a bit silly mate, do you have any idea how many kiwis are in Oz? Theres gate receipts and tv deals to think of.

Coach Potato's picture

Yeah why not (mate), let's pick the best NZ players to play for Australia too

BigPeteBx's picture

Hang in there Coach until the match is over.
Man Utd wont be doing any favours, as they need to win to get back into Top 4 to qualify for Europe Cups next season. But I'd love to see Leicester win EPL Title. They have been a side that truly believes in themselves and won 4 - nil last week without star striker Vardy. He is still suspended (chatting and finger pointing the ref up) for one more match. Refs are protected species you know.
Cheers mate and the ground at Carrington looked nice today. Panthers came home - Big Pete Bx
But I do like it that we have a mixed culture in sport here at The Thinker site.

Hey BirdmanOfAlcatraz, almost half-time there. How you enjoying the game so far? Any chance of giving us all a live update from Brooky? That would be great if you could.
