Round twenty four selections

Brisbane Broncos vs Canterbury Bulldogs – Thursday night – Suncorp Stadium

As we approach the finals there will be many games that have a significant bearing on the make-up of the top four and the top eight. This game is definitely one of them. The Bulldogs are in fourth place currently and four points clear of fifth, so you'd think they were safe, but in the next two weeks they play the two teams that are in the best position to overtake them. After this game the Broncos face the Storm, so successive losses for them in the next fortnight sees them in danger of dropping to the ugly end of the top eight. It's a big game folks. Everyone loves a turnaround story and the Broncos need to turn around a 26 point loss in round 16 if they are to keep moving forward. That's a lot of points, so what's changed between then and now? A few useful additions to the seventeen to begin with - this time around they'll have Thaiday, Glenn, McCullough and Kahu. Mind you, the Bulldogs are adding Josh Morris and Eastwood to their seventeen - very handy additions indeed. The other important change has been the form of the home side. Their defence was a real issue, but in the last two weeks there has been significant improvement. The Dragons could muster just one try in the 76th minute, while the Eels scored just three last week (and one of those was in the 77th minute when the game was over). That's not perfect and that's not top-flight opposition, but it's better than it was. That improvement in defence is important because I still have a question mark over the Bulldogs attack. In their last four games they've scored just 47 points. They're often winning, so I can't be too critical, but they'll need to find another gear if they want to make an impression at the business end. We saw about 45 minutes of the best of the Broncos last week, and that was enough to rack up eight tries. If their goal-kicker was on target a half century was in the offering. With the return of Kahu we may see an improved showing on that front. I've been waiting for the Broncos to find their mojo as we approach September and it's almost there. It looks like the game of the round, and The Thinker is actually getting off the couch and dragging himself to the game on Thursday. Get there if you can.

Verdict – Broncos by 4

Result - Broncos 20 defeated Bulldogs 10

Penrith Panthers vs Wests Tigers – Friday night – Pepper Stadium

It's crunch time for the Tigers. WIth their heartbreaking loss to the Titans last round I think they'll need to win their last three games to make the finals. None of their last three games are easy, but this one looks the least hard. These sides met in round 17 and the Tigers prevailed 34-26 at a neutral venue. This time we're in Panther country and the Tigers don't have James Tedesco. In that last meeting Tedesco was so dominant he forced the hand of NSW coach Laurie Daley in two ways:

  • Tedesco was a must-include at fullback for NSW
  • Bryce Cartwright wasn't ready for representative football...not yet at least

The absence of Tedesco on Friday night is a game-changer for mine. The Tigers have won their last three games at Pepper Stadium but they haven't been there since 2013. That means most of the players in both sides wouldn't have been around back then. Panther coach Anthony Griffin was pretty scathing of his sides performance in round 17, and they've been going swimmingly in recent weeks. A win doesn't quite guarantee the Panthers a top eight finish, but they're so very close. A game worthy of your eyeballs.

Verdict – Panthers by 7

Result - Panthers 40 defeated Tigers 10

Newcastle Knights vs Gold Coast Titans – Saturday afternoon – Hunter Stadium

After gigs on the Gold Coast and in Sydney the Jarryd Hayne tour stops in Newcastle before making its way back to the Gold Coast and then up to Townsville. Whether the tour continues beyond that is up to the Titans, but they're in the top eight right now and that draw with the Sharks in round 21 just might be the difference between being there and being in Bali. With the Titans on an odd number their points differential isn't important but winning is. Given the circumstances this isn't the sort of game they'll be taking lightly.

Verdict – Titans by 16

Result - Titans 26 defeated Knights 6

Manly Sea Eagles vs Melbourne Storm – Saturday night – Brookvale Oval

Two teams with a rich history in recent years, but while the Sea Eagles drift off the pace the purple machine keeps on keeping on. With the nutmegging of Trbojevic last round the Sea Eagles season officially ended, and their only motivating factor this weekend is to stick a fork in an old foe. I doubt that's enough. What's worse the Storm lost last week. If I told you the Storm don't lose two games in a row I would be lying...actually it's more of a fib. If you back the Storm to win following a loss you won't be right every time but you'll be right most of the time. If this game were in Melbourne I'd be picking purple by 50. The venue tightens the margin, but it doesn't change the result.

Verdict – Storm by 13

Result - Storm 38 defeated Sea Eagles 18

North Queensland Cowboys vs New Zealand Warriors – Saturday night – 1300SMILES Stadium

As they say in North Queensland - what's going on with the Cowboys eh? And I'll take myself back to North Queensland and respond in kind - I don't know eh? Whatever is wrong needs to be righted very quickly. Note their impressive points differential, which helps their cause if they are to claw their way back into the top four, and just about ensures they get a home game in week one of the finals if they don't. The Warriors appeared on target for a finals berth until they forgot to show up against the Rabbitohs. Clearly they can bounce back, but the trip from Auckland to Townsville doesn't help. The Cowboys have lost just once at home this season - that was without Thurston and against the Storm. It's time the defending premiers steady their ship, but this won't be easy. Back the total points overs I say - this looks like one of those Cowboys 34 - Warriors 26 type of games.

Verdict – Cowboys by 8

Result - Cowboys 34 defeated Warriors 6

Canberra Raiders vs Parramatta Eels – Sunday afternoon – GIO Stadium

Welcome back to rugby league Semi Radradra - when he wakes up on Sunday morning it will be 0 degrees. His inclusion adds some intrigue but the most notable absence is Josh Hodgson for the Raiders. The wily pom was a deadset chance of jagging the Dally M this year, but a suspension (minus three points) and missing a game will make it hard. Baptiste steps into the dummy half role and he's more than adequate. The Raiders have knocked off the top two teams in successive weeks and have looked great in the process - last week their first try against the Storm was the fastest try all season. With the Olympics on at the moment they are, for the trivia buffs among you, the United Nations of the NRL. They have players whose heritage includes Portugal, Turkey, PNG , England, Samoa, Tonga, New Zealand and the Cook Islands. I guess all those nations have embassies in the capital. The Raiders in form and on a Sunday afternoon in Canberra. Lock it in.

Verdict – Raiders by 20

Result - Raiders 28 defeated Eels 18

Sydney Roosters vs St George Illawarra Dragons – Sunday afternoon – Allianz Stadium

The Roosters are up and down like Ms Thinker on her wedding anniversary. Gutsy against the Broncos, woeful against the Panthers and red-hot against the Cowboys. That would suggest they're due to go down again, but it's hard to see them losing to the Dragons. I'm not sure where the Roosters have been all season, but they appear to be in a mini-battle with the Rabbitohs at the wrong end of the ladder. Meanwhile the Dragons are stuck in that dead zone where they can't make the eight and they can't win the spoon. Granted they pulled a game out of nowhere last week but that was the local derby and I suspect they played that game like it was their grand final. I expect their thoughts will be elsewhere this weekend. This is the Roosters last home game of the year. The joint won't be packed to the gills but the tricolours will give their most dedicated fans an enjoyable afternoon.

Verdict – Roosters by 22

Result - Roosters 42 defeated Dragons 6

South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Cronulla Sharks – Monday night – ANZ Stadium

Is the bubble bursting? The team with the longest winning streak all season haven't won a game since they beat the Knights four weeks ago. They've conceded 62 points in their last two games and while the loss to the Raiders was understandable, conceding 32 points to the Dragons is baffling to say the least. Prior to that the Dragons had scored more than 20 points just once all season (and even then they lost). They look punch-drunk, and now they face a rejuvenated Rabbitohs who clocked up more than 40 points against the Warriors in New Zealand last week. If the Chooks rack up a big win on Sunday afternoon the Bunnies need to respond, and I think they will. Take note Raiders fans...a top two finish isn't out of the question.

Verdict – Rabbitohs by 4

Result - Rabbitohs 12 defeated Sharks 6

Holy Shitski !!

I'm made a huge muck up with the streak table.
Somehow I had Dogs down as beating Cowboys and on a massive winning streak. Had Dogs on 12 and that's all wrong.

Dogs are actually on 9. ....same score as Broncos.
Both are on a current winning streak and the winner here goes to 10 (meaning a likely top 4 finish) with more than interestingly for the loser, they will remain on 9 even if they win their last two.

A win tomorrow for either, and it's a likely top 4.
Lose tomorrow for either and it's just not gonna be top 4.

One other team can reach 10 and that's the Cowboys -but only if they win all three.

Looks like it's win Thursday or Bust.
Is that enough to whet the appetite?

1 STORM 16
2 SHARKS 15
3 RAIDERS 12
4. (Thursday's winner) 10

BULLDOGS 9
BRONCOS 9
EELS 8
COWBOYS 7
TIGERS 7
TITANS 7
WARRIORS 7
DRAGONS 6
PANTHERS 6
SEA EAGLES 6
RABBITOHS 4
ROOSTERS 0
KNIGHTS 0

Don't listen to the naysayers coach you have much more to worry about second part day first part fry !????????????????????????????

Bigpete tough getting the storm at brookey after the raiders eagles wont have the urgency now could be a long night for you guys.

Baggy and Tiger.
You NSW supporters do give me a giggle and origin is gonski.
If Cam Smith had been born in and eligible for NSW you would be saying he's the best player of all time.

The Thinker's picture

Cameron Smith or Paul Gallen

Hmmmm.....I don't think I want to swap.

Rocket Ryan's picture

Baggy and tigerholic i realize the decade of dominance has damaged you two irreparably but the disrespect of cam smith is not going to help try some therapy or medication

mark ashford's picture

Thinker I've been on this site for a few years now and have studied your pic many times. For no result.
Did you ever play for the Roosters? Broncos? QLD? the Dolphins?
Will you ever reveal yourself?

How about a new comp for 2017 seeing as we're nearly at the end of 2016.
I'll put up a $50 RL shop voucher and all you have to do is reveal a hint or two about yourself each week.
Tipsters to have a guess at your identity. Correct answer wins.
You could be deliberately misleading or honest up to you.
Give it some thought, could be a bit of fun next year.
OR if you'd rather remain anonymous.......no problem.

mark ashford's picture

Rocket. Suggestion of the year mate!

The Thinker's picture

Mark,
I'm fairly anonymous and I like it that way. I once had the pleasure of sitting at a gathering while a bunch of people were talking about this website...and they had no idea I was among them. That was pretty fun.

This is as close as I get to revealing who I am...and about 98% of it is made up:

mark ashford's picture

Respect your wishes oh great one.
The plate spinning is of course a furphy.
But are you sure about "the cap" maybe just maybe it wasn't Arties but perhaps it had come off the head of "the King"?

tigerholic's picture

God I hope the bulldogs take a huge bite out Rockets and Mark Ashford's arses on Thursday night.

Rocket, are you still working at Suncorp employed as the scooper for Bucks droppings.

mark ashford's picture

Tiger
Why are you worried about the Broncs mate?
Panthers have much bigger teeth than a Dog.

tigerholic's picture

Mark

I can't bag the Panthers this week, I've changed my mind and I am going to tip them to pip the tigers.

I am worried whether the Broncos can get over the dogs, the only thing splitting them is the home ground advantage, how do you think the Broncs will go?

a's picture

Here are my tips

Broncos by 6 I think Broncos are going to win 3 in a row against Bulldogs

Panthers by 8 I think Panthers are going to make the finals this year

Titans by 10 I think Titans are also going to make the 8 here

Storm by 12 Melbourne to finish 1st here

Cowboys by 12 I think Cowboys will get back on track with a victory here

Raiders by 14 I think Raiders will continue finals surge here

Roosters by 4 I think Roosters will win back to back for the 1st time this season

Sharks by 2 I think Sharks are going to win in a thriller here

and Coach for this weekend put me down for Roosters

mark ashford's picture

Tiger. I have tipped your Tigers even without Tedesco.
You have some huge dudes going forward and your preferred halves are back.
Milford after a scare at training is playing and I just think the Broncs need to make a statement. Jordan Kahu back on the wing will help.
Corey Oates has been embarrassed and is out to make amends.
Watch for Josh Reynolds to make a brainsnap, tripping or other rubbish if the Dogs are behind.
The Dogs are a hard team to beat, maybe home ground will make the difference, expect a big crowd cheering for the Broncs.

mark ashford's picture

Coach in an effort to stay alive I'll take the Roosters, thanks.

christine's picture

My tips for rd 24
broncos
panthers
titans
storm
cowboys
raiders
roosters

no couch comp tip seeing i'm on the couch with my feet up .

mark ashford's picture

Coach seeing as 'a" before me took the Roosters I'll swap to the Titans.
One of us may be then be gone.

Coach Potato's picture

Ever considered you could both still lose?
Ever considered Newbie taking his Roosters this week?
Ever considered that if you tip the same but get it wrong, you still make it another week.
Ever considered that tipping similar to others is what got you this far?
Ever considered that the Knights tied at half-time with the Panthers is a long way in front of being 18-0 down.

Up to you if you want stick or change, but I wouldn't want to see people swapping willy nilly ad nauseum up until game 1.

tigerholic's picture

Cheers Mark, the only game that really has me worried is tomorrow night, if the right bulldogs team turns up then they can put on a score, if the right broncos turn up then they can grind out a win.

Have to sleep on this one, maybe after a round of golf in the morning it may be clearer. I do hope the Tigers get up, keep their chances alive just one more week.

tigerholic's picture

Evening Folks

Off to Fraser Island next week for five days of fishing, drinking, fishing, drinking, I suppose a little eating and sight seeing.

mark ashford's picture

Josh Hodgsen has pleaded "no contest" and will miss the Raiders #24 clash with the Eels after an automatic 1 week suspension.
He could have pleaded guilty and received no suspension but would have had carry over points going into the finals.
Is he afraid of infringing again? Oh who are we playing, it's only the Eels, no problem. Have a week off!
Looked like he was trying to remove Jessie Bromich's head in that
tackle.

mark ashford's picture

Bloody Hell Tigerholic, I'm off to Fraser for 7 days fishing from the 9th September. Rent a house at Happy Valley.
Give us a report on the Tailor when you get back.
If of course you get time to fish.
That drinking and eating can be very time consuming!

tigerholic's picture

Hey Mark, I'll do that. I have heard that the Tailor are on at the moment so looking forward to catching a few. Went up last year at this time and it was fantastic, caught some fish, drank some beer, drank some bourbon and ate a bit too.

One of the best things we did was call into the swimming place called Eli creek , I think thats how it is spelt, tourists flock in for a swim:)

The Thinker's picture

Good stuff Tiger...plenty of big tailor on the Gold Coast and in northern nsw at the moment. Great time of the year for Fraser.

Enjoy.

mark ashford's picture

Yes Tiger and Thinker
Have been reading the reports.
Big Tailor at Sunshine Coast headlands and at beaches off Noosa North Shore.
Should be at Fraser from now on.
I think I remember Tiger you camp near the Cathedrals from a year or so ago.
Perhaps you could leave one or two fish for me as we're a bit late this year.
Eli Creek is a beautiful spot Tiger, best known for the millions of gallons of fresh water flowing across the sands AND THE THOUSANDS OF BEAUTIFUL UNDRESSED SWEDISH BACKPACKERS that are there.
Keep your mind on the fishing & drinking, anything else can come to no good!

tigerholic's picture

Cheers
Fraser is a part of our great country that is really a paradise, whether you take your family or your mates it is a great getaway, forget about work, forget about life, forget about Coach, Rocket, Fortress, "a", nah only joking folks.

Fraser is a great get away that recharges the batteries, only seen one or two dingoes last year. Maybe we can organise a Thinker Camp after the footy one year, all of those on the site could meet, do you think we would all get on?

mark ashford's picture

Tiger, if you can't get on, on Fraser then there's something wrong with you.
I think we could even maybe just maybe get Coach off the couch and come to QLD for a few days fishing.
I've got access to a cheap house. Lots of beds, big fridge, hot showers,
BBQ, plenty of fresh water, fire if you want it, very comfortable.
Let me know if interested.

Origin III... scroll through to 3:20 mark to Boyd's try.

Bunker senior review officer: Bernard Sutton says all good.

Now let"s go back to last Friday and French's no try

http://www.nrl.com/rd-23-broncos-v-eels-hls/tabid/10959/contentid/869959...

Bunker senior review officer: Bernard Sutton says no way.

Consistency between different refs is one thing but how does the same person get two different ru!ings here? If anything, Boyd's was the more intentional. French just couldn't take it first grab.

You are a complete joke, Bunker. Get ready to ruin the finals.

a's picture

That Boyd Try was a try but the Mocheal Jennings try wasn't but

The Thinker's picture

In the Bulldogs v Dragons game there was a similar incident involving Tony Williams which led to a Bulldogs try.

The key word is 'deliberate'. In the case of the French effort, my memory of it is that the bunker official said 'the player deliberately knocks the ball forward before regathering'.

In the Boyd case it was determined that it was a fumble which was regathered, rather than a deliberate tap forward.

That's the difference. Ultimately the officials have to try and make a judgement call on whether or not the act was deliberate or not.

As we've seen many times...they don't get it right all the time.

I happen to think the officials got it right on both occasions...but clearly we'll be disagreeing on that front.

Coach Potato's picture

Strange when you ask for people's personal opinions, that they merely ecite what the Bunker called. It's the kind of thing you would expect from the NRL itself. Hey Mark, I think it could be Tony Archer.

I struggle to believe that French went into that contest with a clear intention of knocking the ball over the head of the opponent. Looks like we disagree once more.

You must agree though that there is no such thing as a knock-on ruling from intentionally passing to yourself. It's an indicretion is it not?

newbie from perth's picture

Hi everyone,

Another Thursday night start this week! Aaaarrrgh! Harden up Newbie I can hear some saying. And right you are. It is what it is and just be glad I have the footy, albeit only for a few weeks more. The finals and then what? Withdrawal symptoms eased only slightly by the EPL (the mighty Gooners aka Arsenal) and maybe some NFL ( SF 49ers).

Anyway, I’m getting ahead of myself here I think. Need to focus on last week’s “upsets” and try and pick some winners. Also have to try and “stay on the couch” but considering who I’ve picked so far and what games that leaves me to choose from, I’m thinking I’ll need some luck to stay on the couch. All I can do is have a crack and hope for the best.

Bulldogs - both the Doggies and Broncos in less than encouraging form (could I say woeful?) but based on what I’ve seen lately overall, I’m leaning just slightly towards the Doggies. Can I trust the Broncos to turn up again like they did last week? Not sure. Who let the Dogs out? Woof! Woof!

Panthers - only tipping the Panthers ‘cos Tedesco is out. I thought these two were pretty even but with James gone and a bit of Tiger reshuffling, I have to get on the Panthers.

Titans - this might get ugly here. JH finding his feet and Titans starting to get some consistency? I was hoping I could tip the Knights just once before regular season end but not this week. Maybe next week? Titans for me.

Storm - Manly are now out of the finals and have injury concerns I see. Melbourne are sitting on top of the tree for a reason. Not a lot of points in this one but the Storm Troopers should prevail.

Cowboys - the Cowboys will (should) win this ‘cos the Warriors got smashed by Souths last week. Yeah, that’s how Newbie’s tiny brain works. Even though they’re a bit “lost” at the moment, the NQC will have too much class here and based on what the Warriors did last week, they shouldn’t pose any problems for the Cows. Then again, this is a funny old game sometimes and the Warriors might be embarrassed enough to bounce back so you never know. Cowboys for me. Yee-Hah!

Raiders - I saw online that since round 11, the Raiders are the top attacking team in the NRL and they have won seven in a row. The poor ol’ Eels on the other hand have just one win from their last five and conceded 20-something points or more in the 4 they’ve lost. Ouch! Nah, you’d have to tip the “rampaging” Raiders wouldn’t you? P.S. Interesting to see how Semi goes on his return…

Roosters - I find it sort of strange that my Beautiful Boys from Bondi are $1.45 faves while the Dragons are $2.75. Really? Who am I to argue with the professionals? Then again, it could be the bookies up to their old tricks again. Bit surprised the Saints got up last week but these things happen. Gotta be truthful here, I was also surprised (pleasantly though) that my BBB got up against the Cows. Wasn’t that confident even though I tipped ‘em but at the end of the game, Newbie was feeling all warm and fuzzy. Just call us “butter” ‘cos we’re on a roll! Go you Mighty Roosters! Begurk! Begurk!

Sharks - some people online are “talking up” Souths here but I just can’t see it. Surely the Sharks will get themselves out of this form slump yeah? Based on what the Sharks have done this year and where they’re placed on the ladder, I just can’t believe they’ll drop 3 in a row. 2 losses and a draw from their last 3 I know but I’ll tip them to get back on track on Monday.

OK kids, good luck with your tipping and may your team win by 40 points!

P.S. How do you tell when you run out of invisible ink? Hmmm…

LAST ONE ON THE COUCH
Leaving out the teams I’ve already picked, I’m left with choosing the Tigers (against the Panthers), Knights (against Titans), Warriors (against the Cowboys), Eels (against the Raiders), the Roosters or the Dragons and finally the Rabbitohs (against the Sharks). Basically, considering the teams I’ve tipped this week, I (and my friend “a” as well) have no option but to go with my BBB. Can you put me down for the Roosters please Coach. Thanks mate…

@ Mark Ashford

Bro’, I hope all those “THOUSANDS OF BEAUTIFUL UNDRESSED SWEDISH BACKPACKERS” at Eli Creek are females and not blokes with dreadlocks! Yikes!

Coach Potato's picture

http://www.nrl.com/rd-16-bulldogs-v-broncos-hls/tabid/10959/contentid/85...

The last comment on the highlights clip summed it up with "Bulldogs too big, too strong". Logic says that to reverse this, they suddenly need to become smaller and weaker. The other side of the logic coin says Broncos themselves suddenly need to become bigger and stronger to match. Logic don't have the Broncos winning this one.

Coach Potato's picture

Hey Gary from Chester, England, UK, Europe, Earth, Milky Way.

If you are looking for a possible rough result, try Manly at home to the Storm. No doubt it will be physical and Storm has had trouble all year in physical games.
A loss to the Dogs- physical.
A one point win over the Tigers at Leichhardt- physical,
A one point win over the Cowboys- physical.
Another 8 point win over the Cowboys- physical,
Another one point win over the Rabbitohs-physical,
and then on Monday a 14 point loss to the Raiders-physical.

There's just no doubt Manly will make this a physical battle.
The Storm opposition has never been far away in these kind of games.
Manly are paying 5 to 2 in your pommy bet talk. $3.50 for $1 over here. They are no chance at playing finals but I don't think that changes the attitude of the game here.

If I'm wrong - well you've lost before right ?

Coach Potato's picture

No suspension for Hayne when tolerance for touching refs was said to be zero.

No suspension for James after the judiciary panel forget how the hearing goes, forgetting to offer the defendant the right to challenge the grading. Curiously the panel forgot and simply concluded that Ryan was in fact guilty as charged. Ryan got off, not because the tackle should have been downgraded but because the panel bizarrely made this blunder, and technically had no choice but to uphold the appeal.

Obviously pure coincidence the Titans are owned by the NRL and are in finals contention right?

The Thinker's picture

Coach,
The round 16 Bulldogs v Broncos game was played three days after Origin 2. Queensland celebrated the series victory on the Wednesday night.

McGuire, Gillett, Parker, Oates and Boyd were backing up. Thaiday was rested (probably still in his undies somewhere).

The Bulldogs had one NSW interchange forward backing up from Origin - Klemmer.

It makes a difference.

As for the bunker decision, I expressed my personal opinion on both circumstances. Perhaps you missed it, so here it is again:

I happen to think the officials got it right on both occasions...but clearly we'll be disagreeing on that front.

You can agree with a decision without being part of the system.

Baggy_Gee's picture

Ok something that I wish to address, My criticism of Cam smith has nothing to do with him being a Qld'er, it is based around his performance on the field. Great player, can not and will not disagree, but his "gamesmanship" of arguing and debating with ref's, of being part of the change in NRL to give away deliberate penalties in defence, look at the game between the Eels and Collingwood, we worked it wide, the winger was standing on the 10M mark when the ball was played. We bombed the try, but really? So his grubbiness for me is based on the intangible of integrity and fair play, both of which he doesn't subscribe to. Also on that list were 2 NSW players, and the exact same reasoning applies to them, Josh Renyolds needs to have hobbles on his legs to prevents tripping, and Ennis need's to learn the same things that Smith needs.

Why would NSW want James Roberts, high priced dud who can only perform when its wide open. If NSW wanted a Darius Boyd copy, we would let Jennings play next year.

It quite possibly the Thurston thing, Hodgeson taking a week off is that they can never fall out of the 8 this year. rest players and get ready to reclaim the glory of '89. Thurston should still be on the sideline recovering that hamstring, he has been out of sorts lately and needs time to feel confident that his leg will hold him, and rest his mind.

The Thinker's picture

Well said Baggy. I don't agree with you, but I understand why you feel the way you do.

Baggy_Gee's picture

That's ok, I just wanted to clear the air, it's not where he is from, it's not who he plays for, it is simply the way he plays the game. There are a lot of players on the "Baggy" $%it list, and some of the BOYS make that list as well. I, like most of us, was brought up with the aim to win mentality, but stay within the rules, that is why "gamesmanship" frustrates the hell out of me.

The lighter side of that, earlier this year I was abusing the T.V. as the BOYS were trying to milk a penalty by pretending they got hit high. Laughed like a drain when they had to kick off their 30M because they kept letting the defense get set and line them up.

Good day folks this is the fortresses tips for round 24:

The mighty sea eagles

The sharks

The broncos

The roosters

The panthers

The. Titans

The raiders

The cowboys

Ryan James getting off for breaking tedescos jaw is a disgrace and why the nrl is in deep trouble the refs the media the judiciary the whole system it stinks soon we won't have a game and no one has the guts to do anything about it.

The fortress telling it how it is !!!!! !!!!

tigerholic's picture

The judiciary is a joke, the bunker as well need a total overhaul. Do they ever ask what people think before they just implement stuff, I can't believe that a player copped a weeks suspension for bumping a ref, Hayne then got off, then Ryan James gets away with breaking a players jaw, that will do me.

Coach, enjoyed your "too big too strong" comment.
Perhaps you could've added in "smarter and faster" as that's what the Broncs need to be to win.
