Wow! Newbie got a mention too. I reckon it was because it was my first year here and I knew nothing and “jagged” a third place, albeit in the company of the incomparable Mr Ashford! An honour to share that tiny podium with MA. I’m chuffed at 2014 but a bit peeved I’ve done nothing since (ha-ha). Maybe a case of the more I know the less I know. Hmmm…

Interesting that there has been no real breakaways(maybe Tiger in 2015). Makes for a good comp.

Don’t be so harsh on yourself Ashford
You were consistent with the Queensland teams... never in the running

Mark,
I see your name on the Honours Board but I don't see Anonymous?
Submitted by Anonymous on
Apparently in 2016 (amazing coincidence)
You could only place if your name ended in “ick”
So you only had to start your name with a D and you could of won

Congratulations to Footy Chick, Big Pete, & Jack Starkey.
Congrats also go to all Roosters followers, it was a cracking game, shame someone had to lose.
Thanks again to Thinker & his Little Helper.
Looking forward to meeting Steel Panther in a couple of weeks, and yes, I'm wrapped in cotton wool!!
I'll be checking for off season comments occasionally.
I hope that everyone has a great off season, Merry Christmas (yes, it's just around the corner), & a very Happy & healthy New Year.
Bye for now, manyana.

It's called an honour board because it's an honour to get your name there. People work hard with their tips, and yes I relied on Qld teams too much this year but hey you support your team and your state no matter what. Your comments dishonour this page so I suggest you either sign up with Thinker (and we'll see how good you are) or bugger off and leave it to the people who care.

Greetings from the Spartan Warrior,
I congratulate the top three on thy success in their consistent tipping this year. Tis no mean feat to attaineth the Master Thinker honour board. A valorous tipster knoweth at which hour to tip against the trend and at which hour not too. Congratulations to Footy Chic, BigPeteBx and Jack Starkey, you’ve forsooth hath played this Master Thinkers football competition much like the Kenny Rogers song ‘The Gambler’.
You've got to know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
And know when to run
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealing's done
Aye, the dealings are done with and there art three deserved winners.
I leaveth thee all with three insightful quotes from the Master coach himself…Wayne Bennett
“A winner feels responsible for more than his job. A loser says: ‘I only work here.’”
“The winner says: ‘There ought to be a better way to do it. Loser says: ‘That’s the way it’s always been done here.’”
and
“There is no greater tribute in sport than to be called a winner, especially when you’ve known the feeling of a loss.”
Adieu
Quis est vir spurius aliquis accipit autem quando non potest.
The Spartan Warrior, hast spoken.

Spartan Warrior, you know your country music well.
Wise words from the great Kenny Rogers.
Worth remembering for next season.
Yes, learning how win with grace and lose with more grace is something that everyone should learn.
Being a winner is an honour, and losing means more experience learned.
I know this from experience!!
Adieu, manyana.

What a joke jkbubble picked the Panthers and was allowed to change his tip because he changed his mind but previously you had to go with your original pick.
The 3 runners up were robbed. 😡
Submitted by JKBubble on
Anonymous,
I'm sorry you feel that way but i specifically asked the thinker the question about changing a tip on the 11/06/20 at 2:04pm.
His response was: "Greetings JKBubble
MaryS is right.
You can change your tips up until the kick off of the first game of each round. Once the round has started, you cannot change your tips.
Kind regards
The Thinker."
feel free to view the comment yourself : https://the-thinker.org/comment/44997#comment-44997
i changed my tip to storm at 6:50pm (40mins prior to kickoff) as i had watched the rain radar all day and it made the decision for me....it was entirely green. If it cleared up i personally believed the penrith could win with a dry track but it was not to be.
I don't believe i broke any of the thinkers rules as every other tipster has the same opportunity to change or place their tips up until kick off.

Hi Anonymouse ( I say mouse, because you want to "bag" someone but hide like a mouse)
Over the season, many of us have gone back into the tipping link and changed our mind with our selection. As soon as the tipping link goes, that option is not available to us. As long as the match has not started some changes have still been made through the comments section.
As JKBubble put in the request to change to Storm at 5.50pm (well before the match started),you do all the tipsters, particularly those reaching the top, and the Honour Roll, a disservice by insinuating that he has cheated.
Shame on you!
Cheers,
Mary

JKBubble didn't break any rules. Anyone can change their selections at any time up until the kick off of the first match of each round.
Congratulations JK

Thanks Mary, well done with the Grand Final scores. My back is improving. Hoping to start Hydrotherapy next week. I'm still trying to find the middle ground trying to manage my CFS and exercise, and my back at made things a little harder. However, I'm luckier than a lot of people on this site. (I'm a glass half full sort of person).
My tips tailed off towards the end of the season, but I think painkillers could have been the problem. Starting to ease them off now.
THINKER, thanks for running the tipping and Ball Bingo.
I enjoy the tipping in particular. Unlike some others, I regard it as a bit of fun. Being against other RL tragics makes the season a lot more interesting.
The Ball Bingo was also a lot of fun. Trying to pick the winners, and the scores was quite challenging.
Looking forward to trying to tip more winners next season and being higher up the ladder at the end of the season.
Sincere congratulations to the winners. You did a great job.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New year, and 2020 just goes into the history books as a year to be remembered. Not happily for a lot of people!!
Cheers, manyana.

Hi Manyana,
When I first came onto The Honour Roll section this morning, my first impression was great, Spartan is commenting again.
Then I looked at the dates the comments were submitted, and found they go back a couple of years!!!
In regard to your trying hydrotherapy, I found it to be extremely beneficial many years ago after a car accident. I found the water supports you and allowed the physio to manipulate trouble spots because of this. My improvement in movement without pain was unbelievable.
Wish you success.
Cheers,
Mary
Submitted by manyana on
Thanks Mary, just to have a little less pain would be great. I hope that I have the same sort of outcome that you did.
Re Spartan's comments, after I wrote my reply, I too realized that in was 2019. The same message still applies in 2020.
Cheers, manyana.

Congratulations JKBUBBLE
Your a worthy winner but I wonder if precipitation or a masterstroke should be credited for your changed tip.
You tipped Penrith believing they’d win.
The 3 tipsters behind you would of tipped Storm hoping to catch you.
I did notice this but it was brought to light by a Rocket Ryan post stating if Storm won there would be a 4 way tie.
Being 1 point ahead all you needed to do was tip the same as the others being the Storm and win or lose you would remain 1 point ahead hence the change. You had the runs on the board and played well within the rules. Touché
Just like Colonel Mustard in the kitchen with a dagger.

Thanks Butcher, your reference to the old game of cluedo got me laughing!

Thanks Thinker for another great season of tipping and banter, looking forward to next year already.

Greetings football fans
I have updated the honour board for 2021. Congrats to our top three placegetters - I will be in touch to arrange your prizemoney.
It's worth noting that anyone in the top 30 in our tipping comp this season scored enough to win in any other season.
Part of that would be a result of a season with a couple of very dominant teams...and part of it would be that we are all getting better than this.
All the best
The Thinker
