Margaret Court refuses to watch women's doubles at Australian Open

Margaret Court (grimacing above) has been riding a wave of popularity on the back of her Australia Day Honours last month. Hoping to make hay while the sun is shining brightly upon her, Court has used the additional publicity to denounce same-sex doubles tennis.

Not wanting to appear like a hypocrite, Court has offered to relinquish the 19 women's doubles Grand Slam titles she won during her career.  When asked if she was concerned this would diminish her ranking as the greatest women's tennis player of all time, Court pointed out that Serena Williams should also relinquish her 14 women's doubles Grand Slam titles.

"Serena was partnered with her sister for goodness sake", offered the exasperated biblical scholar.

Williams has declined to comment on the matter...but smiled politely when asked.
